The series’ signature race is the Le Mans 24 Hours, held annually at the Circuit de la Sarthe in France.

The Table of Contents is structured in admirable specificity and clarity; there is no ambiguity as to what will be where. He has edited several publications, including Motor Sport, Motoring News and the long-running motorsport yearbook, Autocourse. He has written about and photographed motor sport ever since, covering events at more than 100 venues across six continents, from Phillip Island in Australia to Le Mans, Indianapolis, Kyalami, Interlagos, Suzuka and Curaçao. Formula One: The Pinnacle: The Pivotal Events That Made F1 the Greatest Motorsport Seriesvolume 3 3. He is the editor of the renowned Autocourse yearbook, which has been published since the World Championship began in 1950.

Compiled and written by the excellent Simon Arron and Tony Dodgins, ‘F1: The Pinnacle’ is structured around pivotal events throughout F1’s history each largely captured through a lushly illustrated double-page spread and some well-chosen text. Before WWII, before Formula 1, unquestionably the pinnacle of motorsport was generally European Grand Prix racing. Technical changes aimed at levelling the playing field for the teams combined with the sport’s tightening budget cap have made the races closer than ever . However, there was a period - the Golden Age of American racing - when Millers and Duesenbergs were better engineered, faster, and better built than contemporary European racing cars. Technical changes aimed at levelling the playing field for the teams combined with the sport’s tightening budget cap have made the races closer than ever.In my eyes, it is impossible to directly compare F1 to another series like WRC/X, MotoGP or LMH/DPi. Along with changes to circuits and the technology of the cars, this book highlights the commercial changes and the controversies that threatened to split the sport apart - such as the threat of breakaway series proposed at various times by teams. Formula 1: The Pinnacle tracks a history of the changes which have taken F1 from its rudimentary beginnings to the exhilarating high octane spectacle it is today, with a foreword by Guenther Steiner – Team Principal of the Haas Formula One Team. They are, arguably, the pinnacle of that sport; football, baseball, cricket, gaelic football and snooker.

But, seriously, F1 is more and more an artificial show, I mean the title decider last year was a pretty good example of manufactured drama for the audience. Until 1984 the championship was an open series for manufacturers of different chassis, engines and tyres. So much of from 1950 to 2000 is very poorly covered the author obviously having no interest or knowledge of that period.

By 2008, with Champ Car on the bring of collapse, the two series finally merged, but the damage had been. I found it to be the kind of book that you can put into the hands of someone who's never heard of Formula 1 or someone who watches every race and both would find something interesting or learn something new. And the timing is just right inasmuch as the year of publication, 2022, saw the most comprehensive rule changes in decades and in many aspects will come to be seen as a demarcation point between eras. The most famous IndyCar race is the Indianapolis 500, held annually at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in front of huge crowds. We hope to provide a platform that not only invites every F1 fans to browse through their favourite collection, but a community to be more involved in the thrill of Formula 1 racing brings us. That both authors are steeped to the gills in motorsports matters of all stripes is really the key to navigating the friction between “too much” and “too little,” meaning, you may have written, or wished for, a different book but the book as is makes sense and has a place. Watercraft and aircraft should probably be excluded as well, but that hasn't stopped comparisons from happening anyway; Tazio Nuvolari once raced against a Caproni biplane in his Alfa Romeo 8C around a track in 1931.
