Once it is fired up you cannot help but notice how much quieter it is than the older flywheel blasters – my Stryfe almost deafened me when I fired it up after using the Hyperfire!

This spinning action gives an effect similar to rifling in real fire-arms, giving you a tighter grouping and more predictable results. It weighs around four pounds fully laden, which is not too bad, but noticeably heavier than the Rapidstrike. It also comes with a 25 dart drum, which you will need as you can fire up to five darts per second straight out of the box. The handling is also excellent, in part thanks to the batteries pulling weight back towards the shoulder and balancing things out. The “D” batteries are large and comparatively expensive too, so changing them regularly should be budgeted for.

However, the Hyperfire doesn’t initially cost as much as you might expect, considering it’s the fastest-firing NERF yet – and the foam-fizzing fun it promises will make that extra expense seem worthwhile.

Considering small parts included, please keep in mind that it is not suitable for kids under 36 months of age. Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive. The blue plate must be removed first, meaning that the orange plate must be place back into the grey plate first. The first time I tried it out in the field, once I got into scavenger mode (something you are likely to do with this rate of fire!Without all of that nasty orange plastic in the way we can get a clear view of how the electrical system is layed out. The combination of the quietness and smoothness makes you realize that NERF has really stepped up the engineering a notch. While I think it looks quite cool, the first thing that struck me was that it is seriously lacking in tactical rails – one compared to compared to its main rival’s four. However, while the inner workings boast some excellent engineering and mechanicals, they let down by a tendency to jam, especially with older, more beaten up darts.

So I've recently purchased a Nerf Hyperfire and it inconsistently jams during fights with my friends.I had heard about canted flwyheels, but didn't know what that meant until your pics; thanks for that. One of the biggest disappointments my kids have faced over the years with toys, has been opening a box to find hardly anything inside.
