The hero. What can I say? He is not going to be for everyone. He degrades the heroine but they both get off on it. It’s consensual, while I personally would punch him but they both loved what he did. I did love his possessive nature.

He’s what any girl would call a walking red flag. But I’ve never claimed to be a smart woman when it comes to men. Why should he be any different? It’s certainly unsettling in places- and for some, it may be unsettling in not a good way. For others, it’s unsettling in that captivating taboo way, the boundary pushing entracing kind of way. Shantel has a go big or go home approach to the story telling here as she unflinchingly embraces all that makes these characters (and some fun side characters) just so messed up. It’s certainly the kind of connection that makes you question yourself for being curious about it, and I did love how bold they both were in pursuing what they wanted and were pretty much willing to burn the world (and each other) down to get it.She is destined to become a mafia wife and the only way out of such a predicament is death. However, it does seem that there is someone determined to ensure she does not marry the mafia boss and if he has his way she may just end up dead. Yes this is a step-brother/sister romance. Degration is a huge trigger warning for this one folks - if that aint your style, this aint for you. She starts to think that maybe she never wanted to see him again and that he could have never loved her. But in a cruel twist of fate, she has been handed over to him in what she believes is a heartless deal. This will test your boundaries so be aware of that before you dive into this, depending on your triggers it doesn’t sugar coat things. I didn’t expect the writing in the story to be this juvenile and out of place with short sentences that made me want to dnf.

Shantel writes smut on a level with Trent Evans. I’ve tried to finish other works by her but nothing compares to her Lords universe. Shantel Tessier’s novel “Code of Silence” is the story of a woman with a feared and dangerous husband. They had been dating for a few years but now intend to formalize their union. Honestly author tried so hard to portray him as a possesive and demanding ALPHA but failed miserably and turned him into a manipulative little piece of shit. In the beginning i fr tried super hard to consider him hot and dominating but by the end of the book, i realised that he's nothing but a condescending asshole. I feel like this was a lot of personal awakening for them and I didn't really feel the "connection" or "love". It wasn't totally in your face. Especially the first half for me. The second helped, but it wasn't 100% for me. Thus why I am not a writer and this author is. My heart broke and I got teary at a couple parts towards the end. Seeing what the lords do from a different POV was interesting, to say the least. And Seeing Ryat & Tyson show up in this book.Like dominoes, everything started falling down around her. Her mother happens to be down with cancer which has kept her bedridden for months. As such, at such a critical time she finds herself all alone with her troubles. The author was born in Texas but now makes her home in Tulsa Oklahoma where she lives with her husband. She met her supportive and wonderful husband while they were both in high school and they now have two kids. One Christmas, while everyone was thinking of what resolutions they would make for the coming year, she already had something concrete in mind. Shantel convinced herself that she was going to become an author come what may. If the writer decided to make this a novella,it would have saved us a lot of time since it’s not just pure smut, but combined with traumatic actions that don’t make up anything for the story or favor the plotline. It had some type of potential, but it was all wasted. It didn’t provide any type of character development, also.

Let’s not talk about the smut which could have been better.Don’t get me wrong,it was pleasant(the wine bottle scene mostly),but a little repetitive at times.

Warning: This book/series may cause blushing, squirming, combusting panties, and/or self-care. It’s definitely NSFW or with a kiddo by your side. In fact, I would highly recommend you read this one after dark to avoid side eye or awkward conversations. That was the only cool thing she did, she was so up Colt’s ass that she could never stand up to him and say no. Side note, Is it bad that I really want more books which focus on Alex, Finn and Jenks’ individual lives? Personally, I would love to learn more about them and what goes down in their personal and love lives. If we were to get individual books for them 3, I would love to read them. Them 3 in relationships? Yes please. I just know they each get into some crazy and dark shit, which is how I like it.
