Elemental Spirit is where we realize there is no past and no future – there just IS. And yet, there still exists infinite possibility of what can be created and experienced. In some traditions, Elemental Spirit is called Akasha, and is thought to be the etheric source of time, wisdom, and life itself. However, elemental spirits of the earth, air, and fire rarely enter marriage with a human being, even though they can form emotional attachments to them. It’s important to keep in mind that these entities are not mere wisps of nothingness. Their presence may be subtler than humans’, true, but just like us, they have their own flesh and blood. But the Greeks were hardly the only ones to grasp the idea of all things arising from a handful of natural phenomena. This concept is also found, in one form or another, in ancient Egypt and Babylonia, as well as in Hinduism, Buddhism, and religions within China and Japan. Eastern traditions differ slightly in their recognition of the Elements. For example, Chinese astrology distinguishes the Earth-based substances of Wood and Metal as individual Elements in their own right, while ancient Indian philosophy mirrors the original Greek system but adds Akasha—or “Space”—as a fifth Element.

The Octahedron, a platonic solid as previously discussed, is created by merging two square-based pyramids. Each pyramid comprises 4 triangular faces and a square base. Therefore, the Octahedron features 8 triangular faces and a square where they meet. Different writers and artists had very unique philosophies about the symbolic meaning of each element. Most of the time, earth and water were seen as passive, negative, and feminine, while fire and air were seen as energetic, optimistic, and masculine. When the medicinal alchemists began to use an elemental system, they sought to isolate quintessence. They believed that if the fifth element could be separated from the others and incorporated into elixirs and medicine so that it could heal the body of any impurities or illnesses. The fact it came from the heavens gave it a purity beyond measure and an ability to restore health and vitality. I have a friend who says that Wicca, in particular, is the religion of chatchkes. He’s right! We witches just loooove our “things”! In the four cardinal directions, I visualize Gargoyles, protective forces carved on buildings of old. They tend to resemble this fellow! The concept of elemental states of matter has been with us since at least the time of the ancient Greeks, when what we now call the four “classical” Elements—Earth, Air, Fire and Water— were discussed by the great philosophers. These four substances were said to make up all of matter—nothing physical existed that was not composed of one or more of them. This elemental paradigm informed the medical practices of Greek society as well as their spiritual traditions, and ultimately came to influence the discovery of the physical elements of modern chemistry today.

The number 11:11 symbolizes the two feminine elements (Earth and Water) and the two masculine elements (Air and Fire). When you see this number it signifies the manifestation of your deepest desires, facilitated by the harmonious combination of these four elements. Additionally, it conveys a message of spiritual guidance, affirming that you’re on the right path and should persist in your current direction. 15. Seed Sprouting The undines look and are the same size as people. The gnomes are about a foot and a half tall, but they are able to expand to be much larger if they choose. The sylphs and undines are friendly to humans, while salamanders don’t allow humans to approach them, but neither do they come near humans. Gnomes, on the other hand, are usually malevolent towards humans. Undines were the most common form of water elementals, and the ones most in touch with human kind When you plant a seed beneath the soil, it starts to germinate using the earth and water elements, both of which are feminine principles. Upon sprouting, the plant harnesses the energy of the air and fire (represented by sunlight) — the two masculine elements. The Earth is estimated to weigh 6.6 sextillion tons, or 5.97 x 1024 kg. To compare, a million is a 1 with 6 zeros following it – a sextillion is a 1 with 21 zeros following it. (1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000)

Further Reading

Generally, gnomes were thought to be earth elementals, undines water ones, while air elementals took the form of sylphs and finally salamanders were the most common fire elementals. Fire elementals were commonly thought to take the form of salamanders

Elemental correspondences in spellwork

The fifth element, which goes by a variety of names, is more rarefied than the four physical elements. Some call it Spirit. Others call it Aether or Quintessence (literally " the fifth element" in Latin). However, while man is made up of all three elements, there are other beings that only exist in one of the elements. Various types of beings are at home in different elements. For example, gnomes can see and breathe in the earth just as easily as undines and sylphs can in water and air, respectively. Earth elementals were typically thought to be personified as mischivieous gnomes Too much oxygen in the air would also increase the risk of fires on the earth. Since nitrogen and argon are not very reactive, air is pretty safe for us.

Remove the funnel from the jar and pour the water into a cup or container. Replace the funnel over the jar, with the coffee filter full of sand still in place. Working with the Elements successfully in ritual and magic involves a willingness to learn more about them, but you also need to develop an intuitive sense of your individual relationship with the essence of each Elemental energy. Read more about Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit here and in other sources, but also seek out your own direct connection with them by interacting with them in Nature and through magic. The elementals themselves are a kind of middle ground between people and pure spirits. They have flesh, blood, and bones, produce children, eat, and sleep. Viewed from this perspective and considering how their bodies are put together, they are like people. They can move as fast as spirits, though. The Elements and Feng Shui

Vishnu’s blue-colored appearance further symbolizes the Space (or Akasha) element (which is the fifth element). Conclusion Void or Ether: At the pinnacle, the fifth level encapsulates the Buddhist understanding of the void or ether, suggesting enlightenment and the transcendence of material desires. The bottom piece of the lantern that touches the ground represents the earth element. The next section that contains the fuel (in liquid form) represents the water element. The third section that encases the lantern’s flame represents the fire element. The air element is represented by the semi-circular disc whereas the top section that looks like a dome and points toward the sky represents void or spirit. 11.
