First published in 1941, Julius Stratton's classic Electromagnetic Theory has been a mainstay for generations of students, researchers, and scientists. This classic reissue of the original features a Foreword to the Classic Reissue by Dr. Donald G. Dudley that details the book's contribution to the field and an introductory biography by Dr. Paul E. Gray, former MIT President and colleague of Dr. Stratton. Filloux, J.H. 1987. Instrumentation and experimental methods for oceanic studies. In Geomagnetism, ed. J.A. Jacobs, 143–248. London, Third Edition: Academic Press. Vozoff, K. 1989. Magnetotelluric methods, No. 5. Geophysics Reprint Series. Tulsa, Oklahoma: SEG Publications. The electromagnetic method in mining geophysics, vol. 2, 228–372. Tulsa, Oklahoma: SEG Publications. This respected and frequently cited text remains as useful and relevant as ever, with areas of particular interest to today's students and researchers that include: This is a great and classical book in electromagnetic theory. Note that is is rather advanced both in context, treatment and notation and I would recommend for graduate or reference use rather than as a teaching text. Edward, R.N., and M.N. Nabighian. 1992. The magnetometer resistivity method (Chapter-2). Electromagnetic Methods in Applied Geophysics, vol. 2, Applications Part A and Part B, ed. M.N. Nabighian, 47–99. Chu, L. J. (1939). Filloux, J.H. 1977. Ocean-floor magnetotelluric sounding over north central Pacific. Nature 269: 297–301. Julius Adams Stratton (May 18, 1901 – June 22, 1994) [2] was a U.S. electrical engineer, physicist, and university administrator. He attended the University of Washington for one year, where he was admitted to the Zeta Psi fraternity, then transferred to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), from which he graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1923 and a master's degree in electrical engineering (EE) in 1926. He then followed graduate studies in Europe and the Technische Hochschule of Zürich ( ETH Zurich), Switzerland, awarded him the degree of Doctor of Science in 1928.
