Description

You need an exterminator if your garden is large, if your mole infestation is severe and if the methods you have tried did not work. How much damage can a mole do to your garden?

Moles are abundant throughout the UK and at some point in your life you will spot one, I’m certain of it. They’re right little buggers when it comes to the garden and they’re actually more common than you think, and you might not even be able to spot them at first either. Since I live near what you would call a forested area which is situated on a barrow, unfortunately I’m all too familiar with these pests. They burrow up and make a mess, but even worse, they get in the way of the gardening and can really damage crops. I will explain them a bit more below, but they key thing you will know about them is that they’re a right pain!

These mole traps are driven into the ground by a spring and feature pointed spikes that kill moles as they pass through. This kind of trap is very easy to set up and works great in shallow systems. Though these traps are effective, they’re not a good option for smaller moles that can easily escape the trap. Choker Netting is available which can prevent moles coming to the lawn surface to create molehills. This must however be installed before turf is laid. This is usually made of plastic and so can add to plastic pollution. Electronic devices

Make sure the board covers the entire area because you don't want any light to enter the tunnel. Removing The Mole From Your Trap

Jump to

Duffus traps are extremely versatile, there is notreally any situation you cannot use a tunnel trap in. They can be used in both shallow and deep runs and have a great success rate. How to use this trap So, next time you see molehills, don’t immediately try to kill them, as we have shown that there are humane ways to get rid of them. Besides, what often happens when you kill a mole is another one moves into the territory to take its place, and this can go on and on. Live-capture traps are also available for setting in mole tunnels. These must be inspected at least twice a day so that the mole can be released before it dies of starvation and/or stress. Moles can die of stress even within this time. Captured moles should be released at least one mile away from the area of capture, permission to release the mole must be gained from the landowner and itmust be released into an environment that can support the animal. Meeting these requirements can make the use of live capture traps impractical. Hire a professional Moles are rarely seen as these mammals live mostly underground. They dig out a system of tunnels and chambers, and dispose of the excavated soil by throwing up molehills on the surface. Talpex traps are one of the best traps available and are used by many professional mole catchers. They are similar to scissor traps using claws to kill the mole instantly but they are triggered in a different way.

The Duffus trap, combined with the Talpex Mole Trapwould be the best combination for anyone with a serious mole problem or who is a professional mole catcher. Like all traps, you first need to locate a mole run. To set the trap you simply press down a trigger and that’s it, it is now ready to insert into the run. Getting your big boy/big girl pants on does not mean you should do it alone. Enlist the service of your neighbors or friends to help you set up your trap or to stand station at different escape points while you try to catch the mole. Get to work My name is Blane and I’m a life-long resident of Southeastern Louisiana. I’ve been working as Pest Control Technician and Inspector for about 1.5 years now.In addition to the topics covered above, there are some other frequently asked question regarding moles. Why are there moles in your garden? To set the trap, simply locate a mole run using a mole probe.Next, using a small trowel, exposea small section of the run just large enough to fit the trap in. By having the roots separated from the soil, the grass often dies. Also, the rain will not be able to properly drain due to the holes. Another problem is that other animals like mice and chipmunks will use it, causing a possible infestation. This means you will be setting a trap along its path and/or using natural plant or animal mole repellent. Trapping moles this way is a traditional, effective and humane method that is still used in modern times. Moles can eat their weight in worms and grubs every day, so they find healthy, well-watered lawns—which are full of worms and grubs—very attractive. Tunneling as fast as a foot per minute under the sod, one mole can make an average yard look like an army invaded it.
