Description

The original amaretto since 1525 Disaronno's warm, sophisticated taste has a lineage dating back to one of the most romantic periods in Italian history - the Renaissance. Disaronno Velvet is delicious enough to drink on its own, over ice, but it also mixes well in cocktails.

Legend has it that Bernardino and his muse (a beautiful innkeeper) fell deeply in love - culminating in the young widow creating a sweet tasting liqueur in honour of her lover. Disaronno Velvet is the first cream liqueur from the brand, and also the first line extension in over 500 years! You should also note that the picture images show only our serving suggestions of how to prepare your food - all table accessories and additional items and/or ingredients pictured with the product you are purchasing are not included. This gift was the first bottle of Disaronno, its name derived from the phrase 'di Saronno' - meaning of, or from, Saronno. In 1525, the artist Bernardino Luini, a brilliant pupil of Leonardo da Vinci - was commissioned to paint a fresco of the Madonna of the Miracles in Saronno (Madonna dei Miracoli in Saronno, where the Fresco is still displayed today). Try it with your favourite fruit juice (such as orange or cranberry), with cola or in a stylish cocktail. There's still all the hallmark, nutty flavours we know and love from the original Disaronno (which comes from apricot pits, don't you know), but with a smooth, creamy oomph! Over the years the bottle has evolved into its current form with its unique square shape and bevelled, hand-crafted glass design now recognised as a modern classic.

It may not be reproduced in any way whatsoever without Wm Morrisons Supermarkets Limited prior consent, nor without due acknowledgement. Today, the headquarters are still based in the plant in Saronno and the property is still completely owned by the Reina Family. Well, it was in that year that the artist Bernardino Luini, a pupil of Leonardo da Vinci, was commissioned to paint a fresco of the Madonna. Disaronno's sense of effortless, sociable style and Italian chic make it an ideal liqueur for any occasion. This was the first place that Disaronno Originale was produced and marketed, though the bottle couldn’t be further from the iconic square bottle we recognise today.
