Description

When taking Lemsip max day & night cold & flu relief, adults and adolescents aged 16 years and over should take two day capsules (red/yellow) every four to six hours during the day as needed, up to three times a day. This should be followed by two night (red/blue) capsules at bedtime. Make sure you leave at least four hours between doses. If you're taking medicines for high blood pressure you shouldn't take Lemsip max day & night cold & flu relief, because the decongestant may make your blood pressure medicine less effective. Paracetamol is generally considered safe for use during pregnancy. However, the safety of pseudoephedrine has not been established and some studies have suggested that use of pseudoephedrine in the first trimester may be associated with defective closure of the abdominal wall (gastroschisis) in the baby. As a result, Lemsip max flu lemon is not usually recommended for use by women who are pregnant. Get further medical advice from your doctor, pharmacist or midwife.

Don't take Lemsip max day & night cold & flu relief if you're taking any of the following medicines, because the combination may increase your blood pressure:

Disclaimer

Additional symptoms may include, hypertension, and possibly reflex bradycardia. In severe cases confusion, seizures and arrhythmias may occur. However the amount required to produce serious phenylephrine toxicity would be greater than that required to cause paracetamol-related liver toxicity. Liver damage is possible in adults who have taken 10 g or more of paracetamol. Ingestion of 5 g of more of paracetamol may lead to liver damage if the patient has risk factors (see below). If you're taking medicines for high blood pressure you shouldn't take Lemsip max flu lemon as well, because the pseudoephedrine may make your blood pressure medicine less effective. Don't use this medicine for longer than three days without getting medical advice from your doctor or pharmacist.

Don't take Lemsip max day & night cold & flu relief if you have taken a type of medicine called a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) in the last 14 days. MAOIs include the antidepressants phenelzine, tranylcypromine, isocarboxazid and moclobemide, and the anti-Parkinson's medicines selegiline, safinamide and rasagiline. This is because the combination of phenylephrine with these medicines could cause a dangerous increase in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis). The safety of this medicine during pregnancy and lactation has not been established but in view of a possible association of foetal abnormalities with first trimester exposure to phenylephrine, the use of the product during pregnancy should be avoided. In addition, because phenylephrine may reduce placental perfusion, the product should not be used in patients with a history of pre-eclampsia. Lemsip Max Day & Night Cold & Flu Relief Capsules help to relieve the symptoms of cold and flu, including headache, aches, pains, fever and congestion. Caffeine: Caffeine is absorbed readily from oral, rectal or parenteral administration, but absorption from the gastrointestinal tract may be erratic. There is little evidence of accumulation in any particular tissue. Caffeine passes readily into the central nervous system and into saliva. Concentrations have also been detected in breast milk. It is metabolised almost completely and is excreted in the urine as 1-methyluric acid, 1-methylxanthine and other metabolites, with only about 1% unchanged. The antidiabetic medicines exenatide, lixisenatide and liraglutide may slow down the absorption of paracetamol into the bloodstream, so it might take longer to work if you're using one of these medicines to treat your diabetes. Ask your pharmacist for more advice. Due to the presence of caffeine, the product should be taken with care in patients with a history of peptic ulcers.
