Kept me up half the night as couldn't put it down. Absolutely adore Martin and Beth. Edge of seat all the way.' Reviewer, ***** Her writing style probably comes from all manner of influences as she has been known to read anything from autobiographies to sagas and crime thrillers. However, her biggest influence is probably the city of Manchester, which is the setting for most of her work. Guilt is the 6th book in the excellent Working Girls series. I have loved each and every book in this series and couldn't wait to start reading this new instalment. (Don't worry if you haven't read the other books in this series as this can be read as a stand alone story). This book did not disappoint. This is a fantastic read, an excellent story line with some great characters. Couldn't put it down!

Laura Sharples running her five fashion boutiques and trade is blooming with her daughter Candice at university and living in a new four bed house things could not be better for her since her days a s working girl Crystal. As for her inspiration she does not particularly have any since. Heather Burnside’s novels do not resemble the works of any of her favorite authors such as Jeffrey Deaver, Minette Walters, Val McDermid, and Nicci French. However, her work most resembles that of the likes of Mandasue Heller and Martina Cole. Having lived in Manchester all her life, many of her novels draw their inspiration from her experiences growing up in the suburbs. As for most of her characters, they are the people she has met and interacted with over the years. While Heather Burnside had always dreamed of a career as an author, practical concerns took over and she studied credit management in college. She would become a member of the Institute of Credit management and worked for several years, before she decided to take a break and start a family. Some excellent characters come out in this story and the revenge is brilliant. The author is clever at keeping the reader gripped and giving us just what we are looking for in a crime book.

When Beth meets wealthy crime boss Martin, he sets her up in business, dotes on her and gives her everything she wants. But Beth is plotting revenge on the man who tried to ruin her... Will her plan come together? Or, this time, will she lose everything for good? At the opening of the novel, she has no place she can call home even as all she wants is to fit in with the tough crowd. She had spent many of her teenage years drinking at the park and sleeping around and she had become a prostitute by the time she turned sixteen. She also includes events that happened in the inner suburbs of Manchester during the 1990s. These include the 1996 Manchester bombing, the plight of the homeless and the gang wars of the 90s.

Having just finished a book by Heather Burnside and thoroughly enjoying it, I decided to dive straight into another and what an excellent decision that was! The plot was excellent and the characters so believable. Beth and Brady Harris, eating the most famous Mediterranean food at The Amber Room, The owner Martin Bradshaw, wealthy but most of all good looking.I was really excited to get the opportunity to read this book as I am a big fan of the author's work.

A great book, has twists and turns, its exciting and i couldnt put it down, highley recommend.' Netgalley Reviewer, ***** Businesswoman Laura Sharples owns a fashionable chain of clothing shops, but not so long ago she called herself Crystal and worked the streets of Manchester. Although she's moved on, she's never forgotten how far she had to go to beat her addictions and raise her daughter, Candice. A brilliantly written book with plenty of drama and tense scenes that will have you on the edge of your seat. We meet a cast of characters ranging from the rogueish to the downright nasty and a main character who finds herself right in the middle of them allOur servers are getting hit pretty hard right now. To continue shopping, enter the characters as they are shown I LOVED IT!!! Clever, beautifully written and entertaining. And, what is unusual in the mass market of contemporary domestic noir/psychological thrillers, characters you actually care about.'
