Once she was out of nappies though the seat was too uncomfortable (and still too short for the softer bigger saddle) but fortunately someone gave us an Islabikes Rothan (see below) which was much more comfy and having the brake did help with getting ready for a Frog pedal bike. Neither have a brake (but both look great - you're personal preference will be between the frame styles on these two!

These are a great way to get children to balance making it easier when it comes to riding a normal bike. We particularly liked the grooved underside of the reinforced plastic frame, which made the balance bike comfortable and easy to carry when our littlest testers inevitably ditched it mid-ride. The Chicco Kids Balance Bike has everything your youngster needs to learn the ropes and is available in a selection of cheerful colours. We feel this is better suited to smaller children (two to three years old seems about right), as the handlebars can‘t be adjusted and the built-in footrest is very narrow, but the motorbike sounds are very likely to extend its appeal beyond this age range.The wheels are really sturdy and have dealt well with the rough tarmac paths between our house and the school. I go into schools to teach children to ride bikes and balance bikes, and a lot of the children complain about this problem with the Strider bikes.

As expected, the poor geometry of the Red Bullet was an issue as our testers found the bike more difficult to handle and more twitchy as compared to other balance bikes they have tested. Consenting to these technologies will allow us to process data such as browsing behaviour or unique IDs on this site.

The scooped saddle offers added stability for little riders and is adjustable to fit a child with an inside leg measurement of 30-54cm, so you can really get the most out of this balance bike they grow. Just to clarify, we do not sell any of the items that we list on this site and occasionally partners increase or decrease their pricing. I would highly recommend these as they are nice and light so easy for a little one to pick up and comes with brakes so saves the shoes! As mentioned above, the biggest issue with the Red Bullet’s foam tires is that they are only 10″, while most balance bikes have slightly larger 12″ tires. We loved the carry handles, cut out of the bike frame – a thoughtful touch that will be appreciated by parents who will inevitably end up having to carry the balance bike at some point.
