Description

If you’re after a more traditional foldable and reclining camping chair then we recommend this Quechua Camping Chair from Decathlon. In this article we aim to give your derriere some relief by recommending what we consider to be the best folding camping chairs when considering value for money, comfort and compactness. Kingcamp are a fairly new camping equipment company, but we have found that they consistently offer decent value with sturdy and comfortable gear. Overall, the Sportneer camping chair is lightweight and compact – perfect for stuffing into the rucksack on a day’s walk.

On taking out the contents, you are faced with a bit of a conundrum – how to put the thing together? The only thing it marginally fails on is the folded size – you will have to make a judgement as to whether that is an important factor in your particular circumstances. Incredibly this little baby can hold up to 135kg which is about 21 stone, all due to the double strut support given by the legs. If there’s one criticism, it’s that the feet of the chair are possibly too small – on wet, muddy ground, there could be a chance of sinking in.

Let’s face it, there’s not much point going camping to a campsite if you haven’t got a chair of some sort to sit on. The size when packed away is tiny and can easily be carried in a rucksack if you are solo trekking and/or wild camping. On the right arm it’s even better – there is both a standard circular drinks holder and something we’ve not seen before anywhere – a wine glass holder! But there certainly is, and it’s by one of our favourite brands for good value camping gear – Asteri. The KingCamp chair uses a tried and trusted folding collapsible leg system, seen on countless other competitors. No real downsides with the Zempire Roco in our opinion - yes it's not quite as cheap as some of the plastic imports, but the German beechwood frame offers a style and aesthetic appeal you don't get from those.

This Coleman chair is excellent value for money, and with the added side table, you can relax to your heart's content. It’s not the sort of chair you can sink in to and fall asleep – the sitting position is fairly upright. One person can lie on it for maximum comfort in the sun, or alternatively two people can sit side by side. However, what will undoubtedly catch your eye is the amazing sun shade included which clips nicely on to the back of the chair and helps prevent sunburn. If you would like to change your settings or withdraw consent at any time, the link to do so is in our privacy policy accessible from our home page.

For us, the main selling point of the Quechua is that it folds up nice and flat – folded dimensions are a mere 86 x 58 x 10 cm (equivalent volume of 49 litres) which is extremely good if your car is stacked to the limit. If you’re interested in other inflatable chairs then please check out our comprehensive overview of the best inflatable sofas on the market at the moment. It will fit easily into a car boot or campervan/caravan, but you would not want to be carrying it a long distance.

In use, we found it comfortable and rugged – there doesn’t seem much chance of legs breaking or material wearing away. We provide hints and tips about camping as well as reviews of the gear we’ve found useful over the years. Definitely worth a look in our opinion, especially as there are seven different reclining positions to relax in! We were hooked on this chair from the moment we removed it from its drawstrung bag and unfolded the legs – you literally sink into it and never want to get up again! The chair consists of a good quality fabric back and seat which is permanently connected to a collapsible set of legs.

Well actually no – the Orson inflatable lounger uses a simple yet amazing concept that we cannot believe has taken so long to be dreamt up.
