Description

The film begins with a young couple, Barbara and Adam Maitland, who both live a quiet life in a small country town in Connecticut. During an early morning errand, a freak car accident occurs where the happy couple ends up dead. They soon realize this unfortunate news and have to start learning how to cope with living as ghosts for the next 125 years as a posh New York family moves into their home and starts to redecorate and throw all of their belongings out. This new family includes a young daughter (Winona Ryder), who is strange and unusual, who can actually see the deceased couple and converse with them. The real revelation is Omar Epps. Having now gone on to a long and productive career in Hollywood, his talent is already evident in Juice. Omar Epps plays Quincy Powell, a nice kid into DJing and music, known as “Q” to his friends. We see the world of Juice’s mean streets through Q’s eyes, drawing us into the senseless tragedy that swiftly unfolds in its sobering second half. The Blu-ray carries over all of the bonus features from the comparable Deluxe Edition DVD. Unfortunately, they don't amount to much. crisp and in-depth, taking skin textures, clothing lines, and plenty of eye-catching urban textures to a new level of complexity beyond the 1080p few scenes and is impressive both in quieter moments and more boisterous ones as well. impressive color depth and vividness that exists well beyond the SDR Blu-ray's capabilities. The picture sports a general vividness and color accuracy not common at such a level of severity, but these appear here and elsewhere with enough frequency to bump the transfer's grade down a bit.The new scan has revealed a wealth of detail, from close up skin texture, to clothing weaves, from establishing shots of the Maitland’s house on the hill to model shots of the same. Detail is wonderfully keen, edges are held throughout, whether that is sand grains in the sandworm’s domain to the tool marks on the sculptures, or the unconventional wall coverings once the house is decorated. the studio has released the film to the UHD format dubbed a "30th Anniversary" edition. New specifications for this release include 2160p/Dolby The 94-minute main feature is encoded in stout AVC on a BD-50. It is presented in its preferred 1.78:1 aspect ratio. This is flawless compression, capturing every nuance with fluid grain reproduction. The negative must be in fantastic shape. The new transfer possesses excellent fine detail. Paramount ports all special features found on the 25th Anniversary Blu-ray edition with one exception, losing a small photo gallery of pictures. Nothing fresh is added for this single-disc UHD release. And I mean this is an otherwise perfect transfer. It’s gorgeous. From the getgo details are exceptional as the film opens exploring the home life of each member of the crew, we see all of the intricate details in decore and clothing. Facial features, hairstyles, clothing textures are all crystal clear. Film grain is present - albeit heavier and more pronounced in a few action sequences, but otherwise an organic film-like appearance. as they traverse the difficult paths of then-contemporary youth. There film is richly textured in both sound and sight, capturing both the musical beat Juice, which released in the pre-digital photography era in 1992, features a very handsome and natural 1080p transfer. It's bountifully filmic,Juice holds up surprisingly well after all these years, bolstered by strong performances from a young Omar Epps and Tupac Shakur. Everyone remembers Tupac’s larger than life music career that ended in tragedy but Juice proved he was a charismatic actor capable of much more. His portrayal of Bishop is intense, a wild teenager in over his head that makes the wrong choices. Bishop’s push for respect is what propels Juice’s narrative after its more upbeat beginning showing these young men enjoying life. The chemistry between the four young leads is completely natural. Never before had someone made a mixed grab bag of emotions about untimely death and dealing with grief, disbelief, and the netherworld in such a light-hearted yet haunting way before Beetlejuice that gave birth to a new kind of genre and visual style that Burton coined. Dealing with some taboo subjects for its time, Beetlejuice hinted at some strong feelings underneath the laughs that brought these characters to a relatable arena and made sense in a non-sensible universe. It's quite amazing. Beetlejuice comes with a brand new 2160p UHD transfer with HDR10 that is simply outstanding. Another wonderful element to this new 4K release is the restoration to its original aspect ratio of 1.85:1 that looks amazing. This is one of those films where the use of color plays a character in the film and this HDR10 color enhancement allows the beautiful array of colors to shine, making this the best this film has ever looked. On larger and more advanced displays like OLED, Paramount’s new 4K UHD transfer looks mostly fantastic in Dolby Vision and HDR10. Juice must have sold well on Blu-ray to earn itself a rare 4K release from Paramount because its raw video appeal is rather average. prowess is in evidence from the opening titles where the yellow text and the neon colors on the spinning records that appear on the screen offer
