Today we experience the richness of God’s presence through a relationship with Jesus Christ (John 6:51–58; 15:1–17). Jesus came to dwell among us so that we might live with God forever (John 1:14). Before we accepted Christ as Savior, we were living far apart from God (Ephesians 2:12). But once we were united with Christ, we were “brought near by His blood” (Ephesians 2:13). Through His death on the cross, Jesus Christ provided “access by one Spirit to the Father” (Ephesians 2:18). At the Dwelling Place we recognize that this is God's church and as fallen people we daily ask for His presence to dwell with us, to change us and to lead us as we willingly follow the precepts of His inerrant Word and live boldly for Christ in this present world. The Dwelling Place’s departure reveals some of the Vineyard’s institutional weaknesses — as its churches act mostly independently and most cooperation is based on the friendship of pastors rather than formal structures.
