It does leave with you a tingling feeling that something more could have been done. It felt a bit flat as compared to the beautiful build-up which proceeded it. What do Nathaniel’s and Samantha’s histories have in common? What makes them an unlikely couple, yet a perfect couple? How do they gradually learn to trust each other? Chapter Sixteen describes the experience of Iris’s kitchen and Samantha’s awakening to simple, natural miracles such as rising bread. What healing perspective does Iris impart to Samantha? As the story unfolds, Samantha becomes entangled in a web of secrets and lies, fraught with the possibility of losing everything again. Throughout these challenges, she undergoes a profound transformation, discovering her own worth beyond her career, and learning the true meaning of success – finding happiness and being true to oneself. How would you have responded to the questions that introduce Chapter One? Have you ever been accused of being addicted to stress? What’s the difference between having a busy life and being a workaholic?

Samantha wistfully adores "The Waltons." Why is her family so different from the one depicted in that show? What does the ideal family look like in the twenty-first century? I enjoyed this book which is a light-hearted read. I am a fan of Sophie Kinsella's previous shopaholic series and was worried that she wouldn't be able to match the readability in this, however I was not disappointed. She is someone who will appeal to all contemporary women – some will choose to agree with her while some may strongly detest her but I think all will agree that her character is quite relatable to contemporary working women. What follows is equal parts fun and amusement as Samantha struggles to make breakfast has no idea about how to work the oven or the washing machine.Anyway, everyone knows the Chinese live longer than we do – so what could be more healthy than to eat their food? And pizza is Mediterranean. It’s probably more healthy than a home-cooked meal.

Author of the bestselling Shopaholic novels Sophie Kinsella has delighted readers around the globe with her all-too-human characters caught in an array of zany dilemmas. In that spirit, The Undomestic Goddess tells the fast-paced, riotously funny tale of a high-powered corporate lawyer who trades legal torts for fresh-baked tortes in the riskiest career move of her life. The Undomestic Goddess," written by Sophie Kinsella, is a delightful and engaging contemporary fiction novel that takes readers on a transformative journey. With a perfect blend of humor, romance, and personal growth, Kinsella invites us into the life of Samantha Sweeting, a high-powered lawyer whose world suddenly turns upside down. I didn't have any trouble staying interested and reading it from start to finish whilst on holiday, although I do agree that the ending became predictable near the end. There was a point when I wondered if I would be able to finish this book. It was only the fact that it was a borrowed book that stopped me ripping it up and throwing it in the bin. I found the character of Samantha Sweeting infuriating and totally unbelievable. At the beginning of the book we see her as a competent, if over-worked, lawyer, very much in control of what's she's doing. She's within moments of achieving a partnership when an error comes to light. We then have a complete change of personality. Instead of staying to sort the matter out and acting with integrity she does a runner. She does what an immature schoolgirl would have done. If she was so incapable of handling the pressure she wouldn't have been successful in her job. A good lawyer is calm in that sort of emergency.Going into utter meltdown, she walks out of her London office, gets on a train, and ends up in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she’s mistaken for an interviewee and finds herself being offered a job as housekeeper. Her employers have no idea they’ve hired a lawyer–and Samantha has no idea how to work the oven. She can’t sew on a button, bake a potato, or get the #@%# ironing board to open. How she takes a deep breath and begins to cope–and finds love–is a story as delicious as the bread she learns to bake. The next day when she wakes up, she is the housekeeper of a beautiful big mansion in rural England and has no clue how to go about her new job. (I have not mentioned any spoiler; all this is already mentioned in the blurb). The writing style of the author is great. Sophie Kinsella writes in her signature style and that is what makes this book such an outstanding read. I’m . . . busy. Plenty of people are busy. It’s the way the world is. I have a high-powered job, my career is important to me and I enjoy it. The story is told in the first-person voice of Samantha Sweeting. There are no dull moments and a good pace is maintained throughout the book.
