When Heimdall and Hyrrokkin abandon their "children" to go on holiday, Odin sends Baldur – Thor's half brother and god of making Loki look bad – to babysit. Wry, witty and very funny diary-style story packed with doodles and comic strips about the frustration trickster god Lok.

When Heimdall and Hyrrokkin abandon their “children” to go on holiday, Odin sends Baldur – Thor’s half brother and god of making Loki look bad – to babysit. Loki is the series protagonist - the most chaotic god of Norse mythology, who has been banished to live on earth as a normal child who also has to go to school. After the drama teacher casts him as the villain in the school play, Loki starts to wonder whether there’s any point in being good when everyone seems convinced of his villainy.Definitely one you must have on your bookshelves, Loki: A Bad God’s Guide to Ruling the World is my favourite in the series so far and my wife had to ask me to be quiet when I was reading as I was laughing so hard. I often worry he's going to 'age out' he already is disappointed that I have gone from knowing 'everything about star wars and hanging with Max Rebo' to not having seen the latest Mandalorian. Another fabulously funny read from Louie Stowell, this time with a very clever exploration of good/evil and empathy! She can be pretty picky in her taste in books so when she gets a book she devours like that we know it's a good one.

She's the author of the bestselling LOKI: A BAD GOD's GUIDE series, about the norse god Loki as a mortal child. To make things worse, Fartface Thor is to be the hero of the school play, while Loki has to play the villain.

I have come to the conclusion that as a mere mortal, there are things about deities that I would never understand. Perfect for helping kids (and adults) learn more about the nature of envy, empathy and it what it actually means to be. After the drama teacher casts him as the villain in the school play, Loki starts to wonder whether there's any point in being good when everyone seems convinced of his villainy. Life's tough for trickster god Loki, banished to earth in the body of an eleven-year-old boy with thunder god Thor for company.

The Loki series is a real favourite of mine and one I am constantly recommended to children and families as they are accessible to even the most reluctant of readers. Louie Stowel totally gets school children’s humour and I marvel at her whip smart one liners and hilarious situations. Another hilarious Loki book […] Loved the explanations of mortal things such as zoos, mall etc that made me laugh out loud. I remember this age when I wanted comics read to me at bedtime but my dad always insisted on reading something more grown up.Funny, charming, messages about empathy, jealousy and friendship, and, of course, a wonderful bunch of illustrations throughout (which add so much! Loki is, as ever, just trying to be good, but when a cursed item reaches his possession, can he resist wanting to be king of the world? A ring that looks suspiciously like the cursed ring of Andvari, one that promises Loki the world if only he gives in to his deepest, darkest desires.
