Like, ahem, a certain movie franchise, you want to attract visitors to your dino park. You score points at the end for having exciting sets of dinos in your enclosures. Draftosaurus is a drafting game with the aim of set collection, but it doesn’t involve cards. Instead, you’re drafting a hand-full of adorable dinosaur meeples!

This Pen can hold only one dinosaur. The key decision making process in the game, is selecting a dinosaur based the die restriction, available pens and their requirements, and also keeping an eye on which dinosaurs are being passed to the next player. The Marina Draftosaurus expansion is much simpler than its counterpart in that it simply offers up a new way to gain points. You can only place a Plesiosaur in the standard river placement on the main board, and then after placing a dino depicted on the next bridge, allows you to move into the next section. Dinosaur Placement & Scoring Draftosaurus was one of the first games we played at Origins this year that made us say “We have to own this game”. Our family is always looking for games that support up to 5 players and it’s a huge bonus that the game is only 15 minutes. It’s easy to play a couple games with co-workers at lunch, bring the game with us to a restaurant or play after dinner with the kids. It’s definitely a gateway game that teaches the drafting mechanic in a fun and memorable way.
