Description

Nihonga, literally Japanese painting or picture, is an art form rooted in centuries of Japanese cultures. Gansai Tambi ( 顔彩耽美) Watercolour Paints by Kuretake are traditional Japanese water based paints loved by professionals and craft workers alike. Gansai Tambi paints are high-quality Japanese handmade, solid watercolours that behave in a similar way to gouache. Except for the metallics, which mix exceptionally well according to a demonstration on YouTube by “Andi Design”, see https://www. These high performance paints offer artists luminous, vibrant colour that can be used for all kinds of art applications - whether you’re sketching, creating manga illustrations, hand lettering, watercolour painting and more.

A:Since Gansai Tambi is a pigment-based paint, it is lightfast as long as not too much water is mixed in, but please be noted that the more water is mixed in, the weaker the lightfastness becomes.Less layers this time ( I didn’t bother that much ) and again all the mixes I did were weak in colour and dried quite dull and three to four tones lighter than I expected. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.

The set comes in an attractive mustard-yellow fabric box, making it a perfect gift for someone with an artistic side. Neon/Matte ‘Wet’ Mix – Matte colour tends to overpower it’s neon counterpart, but if you get the mix right, particularly with the yellows – it produces a nice cheerful yellow, somewhere between the Brilliant Yellow and Lemon Yellow in the set.I have tried various metallic paints, brush pens and even metallic inks in the past, yet none come close in quality to these two pans! Akashiya plum flower shaped palettes allow you to separate colours or different saturations of a single colour from each other, or from ink. Some people say they have a pastel-like finish, but to my eye, the finished paintings look more like acrylic.

I have use these Gansai and I like them a lot, specially when I want to achieve that oriental look into my pieces…. We recommend purchasing 2 sets of brushes and keeping them separate if you also intend to practise ink painting (sumi-e). The colours of traditional Japanese gansai sets are often different from those in Western watercolours. And here compared with a Jackson’s full pan that is a bit larger than the regular full pans that you can find in watercolour sets.Gansai pans may exhibit cracking due to extreme dryness or appear rough in texture due to tiny air bubbles, however neither of these traits affect their quality. Colours] Gansai is traditional Japanese watercolor, utilizing colours that are based off those seen in nature, meaning they are vivid and opaque. though that was the postage I had to pay, Never the less it arrived well packed in a ridged envelope, which I will recycle. Originally used with large Japanese brushes on rice paper for quick and efficient paintings or underpaintings, they perform better when used wet on dry paper. I began by swatching the watercolours and I was immediately struck by how easily my brushes could pick up this gel-like pigment.

NOTE – If you make a mistake with the Neon Orange or Neon Blue it’s impossible to lift off with a wet brush or paper towel like you can with some other colours! WAVE: Currents in Japanese Graphic Arts presents the rich diversity of Japanese illustration and graphic arts through the works of both 20th-century innovators and emerging artists alike. ADDITIONAL NOTE: At the time of writing this review, I don’t know if the colours in this set will be available individually once you run out.The Gansai Tambi Japanese watercolour paint set from Kuretake comes with 18 traditional Japanese colours, designed for use by professional artists and enthusiasts alike. For my painting style, that includes mixing colours ( that was the reason why I got the 12 colour set), colour sets that can’t be mixed properly or give weak results, is a big disadvantage. If no pigment data is provided or available, that makes the set questionable for anything more than sketchbooking. I added details with the bronze gansai and found this really helped bring out the details and add an an extra shimmer. Enji - Shortened from enjimushi which is the Japanese name for the insect from which the deep red dye carmine is derived.
