Savannah tries to postpone the unavertable, but soon Gregory will come in New Orleans to collect his lifemate before the horrible vampires steal her away from him. The book itself just can't seem to get its pacing, stretches for enormous lengths of time dealing with Peter's relationships, repeating the same beats, thoughts and conversations time after time. Although there was a bit of a twist about 75% of the way in, there was no real suspense other than that; the main character developed super-speshul new powers early on made it simple for him to defeat the main antagonist and threat to his safety. He never seemed to be in any danger. To put it simply, i hated him. If I wanted a misogynistic love story about a guy, stalking, forcing and guilt-tripping a woman into being with him and dubious consent on the heroine's part... i'd watch the news.

Gregori has found his lifemate. She is Savannah, daughter to his best friend, Mikhail. She is a magician who has left the Carpathian Mountains of Romania to seek her independence. Gregori had come to her when she was 18, but she was not ready to be with him. She begged him for time and he gave her 5 years. These years have been very difficult for him. So difficult, that when they are finally reunited, he is almost more beast than man. He spirits her away to his lair and "claims" her. Savannah is very attracted to Gregori, but the act between them is far from gentle. She thinks him a monster, until she allows herself to use the telepathy of her people and see inside his mind. The monk showed it to his guards the next day. The legend sounds silly, but there is evidence that supports that the Codex Gigas may have actually been written in one night. When analyzed, it would take one person at least five years to copy all of the Codex’s contents; five years of non-stop writing. Savannah? Were you trying to hit me?" "I did hit you - twice, you scum. You didn't even notice the first time." She sounded very irritated with him. For some reason it made him want to smile. "I apologize, mon amour. Next time, I promise I will notice when you strike me." The hard edge to his mouth softened into a semblance of a smile. Scot died in 1599; the book was not republished during his lifetime. There wasan abridged Dutch translation published in 1609, Davies notes, but was not republished in England until 1651, nearly three quarters of a century after its initial publication. I absolutely loved this! I've read a lot of good books this year so far, & this is definitely in my top 3. In this, we're introduced to Primrose Titan, the Goddess of Death and Queen of the Underworld. Enter the calamity. Lucifer, King of Demons, who escapes from his cage in hell. His escape is what prompts the story. Prim is paired up with Atlas, God of Ice & one-half of the Grimm Brothers, to kill Lucifer. Neither is happy about this, but the story gets juicier & juicier from there. Everyone calm down and let me explain before you loose you minds. She is Carpathian not human. This is not a case of arranged marriage when you can love someone else and/or hate your true mate. THEY ARE MADE FOR EACH OTHER. And without each other they will live an awful life. Gregori was in extreme pain the entire 5 years he let Savannah go explore and become a famous Magician (which I'm not sure how this made sense, but whatever). I liked Savannah. She was independent, intelligent, but also loving. She fought the lifemate bond initially, but then she came to realize that she was just as compelled to love Gregori, and she helped him get over his guilt about 'manipulating their connection' while she was in the womb. I really liked the communication Gregori had with Savannah when he saved her and her mother Raven's life. It made me want to read their book.

a unique premise. The way the author approached the idea of Gods and deities was something I hadn't read before. The mythology behind them was awesome and I loved learning more about their history throughout the book. It had a bit of an American Gods feel, with them being in the modern world. An ancient tome delving into the dark arts of witchcraft and magic…a book of doom…yet it lives…at the Library of Congress. These blogs are governed by the general rules of respectful civil discourse. Her job is to reap souls and bring them into the underworld. I love a good reaper story and Primrose was a great main character. She was well fleshed out, and I really enjoyed reading from her perspective. We join her on her journey to take down Lucifer. Lucifer was also an interesting character. I quite enjoyed Raluca's story telling and character development.

darkmagicnovel is the first book in the Chronicles of the Underworld Series by @ralucanarita. First, I have to say that Dark Magic is a stunningly beautiful book. I loved the hardcover edition, and I loved how pretty the inside of the book was. And then I am also very happy to report that the story is just as great as the aesthetics of the book! Dark Magic was a fantastic paranormal journey and I can't wait to see where the next book in the series is going to take us. I enjoyed every second of this incredible tale with Primrose leading the way without letting anyone bring her down. Her character was fleshed out and detailed. There was so much going on that I could not put the book down. i felt like it was really jarring that the goddess of death basically talked like a 24 year old! i really wanted her to be more ancient! also the way she dresses! i know it’s so minor but i feel like it really took me out of the story! I had started this book, wondering why it'd been nearly 5 years since i've read a Feehan novel and this reminded me why.
