Kat is a complex character, the author has depicted a grieving widow who is trying her best to get on with life so very well.

He allows Kat to focus on her intuition, her instincts that are formed through years of experience and through human evolution. It's so much more than a dystopian police procedural and asks questions about who we are and what it means to be human. This reads like it could be the beginning of a brand new series, and if so, I'm definitely up for it!
