Description

I used this lawn feed exclusively throughout 2020 when no other type of feed touched my lawn; not only was I delighted with the results, but I still had plenty left over for the following year. If you need more convincing, consider the fact that, as Christi says, seaweed is 'organic, non-toxic and doesn’t need to decompose before working it into your soil.' The best lawn feed you can buy in 2023 1. Westland SafeLawn Child and Pet Friendly Natural Lawn Feed: Safest lawn feed Written by Daniel Woodley. Reviewed by Elizabeth Smith. Unique double action.Lawn Magic does two jobs in one. It greens the grass and strengthens the roots. Seaweed enriches the soil with organic matter, improving soil structure, water retention, and nutrient-holding capacity, creating an optimal environment for root growth Enhanced Disease Resistance When applied on newly germinated seed, this fertiliser can really boost growth, able to help with reseeding bare patches as well as improve the general overall health of the garden. Dried or processed seaweed products can be used much as you would any other plant tonic, when the plants are actively growing (usually between March and September). These products are available in liquid or solid form, so always read the label to find out the best way of application.

Give your lawn a healthscore

If you’ve recently planted new grass, look for a lawn feed that’s high in phosphorus and nitrogen . Alternatively, for established grass, high-nitrogen lawn feed can promote a growth spurt if the lawn is struggling.

For the best results, MOOWY claims this fertiliser should be used regularly every six to eight weeks, along with mowing your lawn every week. That said, the high nitrogen content makes us a little cautious when using this product on young or recently sown lawns.

Increased Nutrient Uptake

I feel this product is good for the lazy or busy gardener who wants to put down a lawn feed and forget it for 2-3 months. In modern fertilizer use, liquid seaweed makes a highly efficient base for the nutrition of a wide variety of plants. This is because it can be safely mixed with most of the commonly used sources of nitrogen, phosphate and pottassium, along with supplements like iron. The seaweed stimulates the soil bacteria which, in turn, helps to release much of the nutrient content. In many cases these nutrients are fixed in the soil and not available to plants, whether you’re feeding grass, tomatoes, vegetables or flowers. Seaweed combats this, helping you to make the most of any nutrients being applied, and reducing the quantity required for healthy growth. If you do have access to fresh seaweed, it is a useful substitute for farmyard manure, and does not need to be rotted down before use. It is best dug in fresh in winter or spring before it has had time to dry. A 7kg bag provides 200m² of lawn coverage, and it should be applied once between April and September when the weeds are actively growing, with a maximum of two applications per year and a gap of at least three months between.
