Description

It’s all a matter of whether you want to play a game with action cards and cute and funny art work or a more streamlined similar mechanic game like Cover Your Assets. For example, if someone uses an action (not the dread raining fire-goats card), but say the Russian Goatlette, if someone plays Escape Goat, does that just apply to him/her, or does it stop the action?

You may attack an opponent's top goat pile (or stack) by producing a goat from your hand (or a wild) that matches opponent's top Goat. These cards allow you to do things like move a person’s goat stack to the top of their pile, allowing you to then try and steal it. The only way an opponent can defend their goats is if they play the same goat card again or a wild card. It’s a quirky little game that revolves around the cut-throat world of stealing goats from each other. If the attacker wins he or she collects all of dueled cards including the opponent's top pile and adds them as a stack to their goatherd!

Each player adds up the total value of their herd by counting the points of each goat in their hand. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that just as there’s nothing wrong with Goat Lords being similar to Cover Your Assets. There were also some 1-2 star reviews from people saying Goat Lords is a blatant rip off of Uncle Becks Cover Your Assets but I don’t agree. If the top card on the discard pile matches a card that a player needs, the player may use it to form a pair. So if you steal a big pile and succeed in holding on to it for an entire round, you can play a new stack on top and protect it.

Also, if you do make good use of the rotate card, you can then play a new pair of goats on top, meaning the big stack you just stole cannot be easily stolen from you. The remainder of the cards can be placed face down in the center of the playing area, creating the Draw Pile. If you are in a vindictive mood, there is also one Atomic Goat action which allows you to just flat out nuke a stack of goats. Second, they can have an “assisted birth” by playing one goat from their hand along with a matching goat from the top card of the discard pile. Better, play a couple of hands with another, like-minded gamer and develop the table rules in advance so that you can share with your other players as you explain the game. When the draw pile has been emptied, gameplay will continue around the group until their hands are empty. Knowing how to play your cards, when to hold 'em, and who to attack greatly affect how many points you end up when the last goat is played. The basic premise is players try to acquire a stack of cards consisting of matching goats, each of which is worth from five to fifty points. The player must have a goat card in their hand that matches the goats in the opponent's top pile, or a wild.

You do so by stacking pairs of matching goat cards in front of you and stealing opponent’s goats before the draw pile runs out. Join the community and come discuss games like Codenames, Wingspan, Brass, and all your other favorite games!Because it is a silly game, no one should get too upset when your stack gets nuked by an unexpected action or two. Take top card and place it face up; this will act as the start if the discard pile (A wild cannot start it). Welcome goats to the herd by taking two identical cards (or one wild) from your hand and placing them in front of you. The premise of the game is that you are collecting sets of like goats (herds) in your stack by putting matching cards from your hand (or from your hand and the top discarded card) onto the top of your stack. Gameplay continues until a player reaches one thousand points or until the group decides it is over.

Every time you win a duel successfully, your goatherd value goes up, making you more likely to win, but watch out! It’s perfect for any family game night, party game, thanks giving games, christmas party games, teen games and more. You may play multiple rounds keeping a running total of points until one player reaches 1,000 Goat Points. It’s great when you know someone has a Chuck Norris or Leonardo de Caprio stack with several 25 and/or 50 wild cards and you have three action cards to help you steal it from them: play the action card where you ask the player to your left for their highest wild card until you get to someone who has a wild card to give you (players should be honest about it or why bother playing?Every time you win a duel or play a successful action card, your goatherd value goes up, making you more likely to win, but also a target for your fellow Goaters.
