Description

The device, rather unexpectedly, also comes with a parking mode. This uses the G-Sensor to detect an impact even when stationary, and switch on the device’s recording mode to (hopefully) catch a glimpse of whoever or whatever hit your vehicle. Unfortunately, the battery life of the 112 is only around 30 minutes, so it will struggle to stay alive long enough to make this mode really count. The addition of Bluetooth means the 322GW also has emergency response features. In case of an emergency, the camera can alert the emergency services and provide them with your location and other relevant details. There are safeguards in place to prevent accidental calls. It also has intelligent parking mode that will monitor your vehicle when not in use and record any movements it detects. We recommend the official Nextbase hardwire kit for this to prevent your battery from draining. This is about the only optional safety feature provided by the 112. The other capability worth mentioning is Parking Mode, where the device will use its G Sensor to detect motion and trigger recording. However, the built-in battery is only rated for 30 minutes, and although the unit isn’t recording all the time, it won’t last a very long time in this mode. It certainly won’t protect your car whilst left in airport parking for a week. Nextbase 112 – Image quality The series 2 range of dashcams is the second generation of devices from Nextbase that were launched throughout 2019 and 2020.

If you don't have your smartphone with you, still-photo support on the Nextbase 112 lets you snap a picture at the press of a button. A MicroSD card slot is used for recording, and no media is included. However, at the top quality setting a 16GB card should be enough for around 112 minutes of footage. Once the memory card is full, as with most dashcams the 112 will begin to loop recordings, deleting the oldest files and replacing them with the new ones as they are captured. Weighing just 360g and measuring just 5.5cm wide, the 112 is our smallest Dash Cam yet and is built to be as simple to use as possible, with a bright 2” LED screen to view the menu and adjust various settings. The Nextbase In-Car Cam 112 is a dashcam that offers reliable and durable performance. Designed to provide clear and high-quality video footage, it is an effective tool for capturing incidents and providing evidence in case of accidents or disputes. The G Sensor also has three sensitivity settings, as well as an off mode. This comes into play to detect sharp movements, which then triggers marking the current video recording as an incident. This means it won’t be overwritten during the looping process. The Nextbase 422GW brings all of the features of Alexa from your home into the car, along with voice control so you can focus on the road. Get driving directions, make calls, play music or ask Alexa to send the video straight to your phone, all hands free. Unlike many other devices, the power cable actually connects to the mount itself rather than the camera. It uses a micro USB port on the side of the mount and then plugs into the auxiliary/cigarette lighter port on the car itself. It means that, unfortunately, you may find yourself unable to use a GPS alongside the camera as these tend to utilise the same port to power themselves. However, if you’re someone who uses a smartphone to navigate anyway, this won’t be an issue. But when we tried it for ourselves, the dash cam we tested was a complete letdown, failing to recognise movement even at the highest sensitivity level. The Nextbase 622GW offers the highest image quality of any dash cam currently on the market, providing stunning 4k recordings at 30fps. The image stabilisation system reduces vibrations from your vehicle and improves footage clarity, while the Super Slow Motion feature means that drivers can view recordings in 1080p HD at 120fps.

Please be aware that formatting the SD card will delete all the data on the card, so if you wish to keep any footage, please copy this across before you start the formatting process. 3. On an Apple Mac Computer If you find you need to position the 112 pointing up from the mount at the bottom of your windscreen rather than hanging down from the top, it’s possible to rotate the display by 180 degrees. However, the buttons that were below the screen will now be on the top, which might be a little confusing. One obvious indication that the 112 is a budget device is the video resolution it uses for recording. Where the 512GW boasts 1440p resolution, the 112 drops right down to 720p – 1280 x 720 pixels. This is basically a quarter as many pixels, so you won’t get anywhere near the detail, even under the best of conditions.

How to install a Series 1 Dash Cam

The Nextbase 522GW Dash Cam has all the benefits of the 422GW, plus a polarising filter that provides unbeatable picture quality to give you a superior dash cam experience. The polarising filter is an anti-glare upgrade to dramatically reduce windscreen reflections and record clearer images in direct sunlight. Overall, it’s very easy to set this device up, and the design is both functional and logical. [aawp fields=”B01N3SN68T” value=”button”]
