I mentioned the chests earlier. There is one for each of the eight players in different colours and emblazoned with the name of a trepid explorer on the front. They are well made and really add something to the game. The feeling is great when you escape the depths, heavy with loot and pour it all into your little chest. Plus it's fun watching everyone shake them between rounds to gauge who is winning. Brilliant fun. If a trap appears for the first time since you entered the cave, nothing happens and the expedition continues. However, if the same trap is revealed a second time, all players in the cave immediately return to camp empty- handed. One of the two identical Example: In a 5-player game, you reveal a Treasure card with 9 Rubies. Put all of the Rubies you gathered during the expedition in your Chest. Everything in your Chest is safe until the end of the game. To do this, take your two Decision cards: Continue and Exit. Choose one and place it in front of yourself face-down. When everyone is ready, simultaneously reveal your cards. One way to add complexity to Diamant is to increase the starting position of the pieces. Rather than having the board start with all six pieces in one location, you can instead create a variety of starting positions that are randomized each game or decided upon before beginning play. You can also adjust the number of guards (or pawns) each side starts with, which will affect both sides’ strategies throughout gameplay. Diamant Board Game is a wonderfully exciting and challenging game that can easily be modified to make it even more intriguing. With these variations and modifications, the game will be more complex and provide an even deeper level of enjoyment for players. The goal in Diamant is simple. Throughout five rounds, collect as much treasure as you can and hopefully have more than the other players by the end of the game. Sounds easy right? A few clever wrinkles in this game make getting out alive and laden with treasure, fraught with drama and indecisiveness. Alan R. Moon talked with various American publishers and the U.S. edition of the game was published in late 2006 by Sunriver Games. The publishers wanted to rename it "The Temple of Doom" but went with Incan Gold because of legal issues. Faidutti noted that Incan Gold had some changes from Diamant. The rules stayed the same, but Incan Gold does not have cardboard chests or wooden pawns, and artifact cards were added to the game. [4] Awards [ edit ] Each player counts the Precious Stones they put in their Chest, as well as those on the Relic cards they gathered, and converts them into victory points:

All the Rubies and Diamonds in your Chest are safe until the end of the game. Diamant takes you on an expedition in the Tacora Cave, known for its diamonds... but also for its formidable traps! Venture to the depths of the cave and decide, step after step, to follow your path or return prudently to the camp to safeguard your treasures. Venture deep into the Tacora Cave and gather as many diamonds as possible. Be clever enough either to return to camp before falling into a trap, or to gather all the diamonds that are left on the path. Consider The Opponent’s Moves: Don’t just think about what move you want to make”also consider possible countermoves from opponents and plan accordingly so their actions don’t end up ruining your plans or costing you valuable points resets mid-gameplay! Paying attention to where they have weak spots on their board (or where they have placed powerful stones) can help you plot out effective strategies against them that could ultimately impact the outcome of the game greatly! Components and Artwork Each player chooses a color and takes the Chest and Explorer figure of the same color. Explorer figures must be visible by all players.

An English-language edition of Diamant was published in 2006, by Sunriver Games under the name Incan Gold, with illustrations provided by Matthias Catrein. The rules for Incan Gold and Diamant are the same, but the games have other minor differences.

Decision Cards allow you to show other players if you want to go deeper into the cave or return to camp.Once all players have made a decision, reveal a new Expedition card and lengthen the path into the cave. The main mechanic behind Diamant is movement and territory control. Players use single pieces called stones, as well as multiple piece combinations called carriages, to navigate their way across the middle line of diamonds and reach the central diamond first. One key strategy for winning involves deliberately setting up obstacles that limit your opponent’s ability to move their pieces aroundthe board. These barriers can be formed from either a large number of stones, so that you possibly “trap” them with little room to maneuver, or by placing two carriages side-by-side with no corresponding stone in between them ” an obstacle known as a double wall. Multiple walls can be created if desired and these are often an effective way of isolating an enemy piece and ultimately eliminating it from play entirely.

On the path out of the cave, gather all Rubies that were left on Treasure Cards. If multiple players are leaving at the same time, they equally share all remaining Rubies. If there are any Rubies left after this, leave them in the cave on any Treasure card. The Diamant Board Game is a classic escape game for two to four players. It includes several components, such as dice, wooden cubes, cards with various action accomplishments, and a cloth bag containing gems made of glass and pewter ore. The board itself is illustrated with artwork featuring the various action possibilities available to each team or individual. Players must explore the castle in which they are trapped and attempt to escape by collecting resources (gems) by rolling the dice. If a player lands on an action accomplishment card they will receive either additional resources or points while they move around the game board. As they progress through the game, players must make strategic decisions about which actions will net them the most points and victory in their journey to freedom. The artwork used throughout this game helps bring it all together into a thrilling and immersive experience worthy of a master escape artist!
