Through the project, he was also able to have skateboards delivered to The Uganda Skateboard Union on behalf of Stacy Peralta, director of Dogtown And Z-Boys and Riding Giants and he’s previously acted as a creative consultant to Brian Wayne Transeau or “BT” (whose previous collaborators include Peter Gabriel, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and David Bowie, amongst others) on his last album, If The Stars Are Eternal, So Are You And I. This book provides that feeling once again. My favorite entries in this book are The Anxiety Inherent in Air, The World Is Not As Dark As It Seems, and The Truth is Different Every Day.

Reading those words somehow felt that the author took the words out of my soul and put it on paper. As if he really knew me so well, like a bestfriend I always wanted to have and he easily put into words all I wanted to say. There are so many quotations from the book that I can relate to, words that triggered memories from the past and give a glimpse of a bright future. It is like peeking into my diary and reading all the words I am silently keeping or letters I never send. It tells my story and everyone’s stories too. His work has won numerous local and international awards and can be found in Communication Arts, Design Indaba Magazine, Ad Vantage Magazine, bestadsontv.com, Contagious Magazine, Archive, The University of Pretoria’s Permanent Design Collection, X-ings: Shaping Culture Through Design Exhibition, The United Nations Gallery of Sustainable Communication, TEDx, Heso Magazine (Japan) and http://www.inpursuitofelegance.com Just like the previous book, this one also revolved around the theme of love, which is pretty clear from the title anyway. The poems were once again hauntingly beautiful, and even though I have read the previous book, I still wasn't ready for the beauty of these books. I noticed, however, that many of the ideas were a lot similar to the ones in I Wrote This For You. The way the content was presented was also in a similar way, so although I loved the pictures attached, I didn't find the idea of paragraphs that appealing. Never stop and never settle but settle down for the one who makes you want to be better. And settle down." pg 35

If you don’t think I’m important “you’re a no one, not a someone. Because everyone is important to someone.” If you'd tried to reach the one you loved just a little bit more, when you almost had them, your life would've been completely different." Me: But there will come a time that all people will get tired of reaching out and loving their someone. Sure, love can be given freely but then it is most tiring when you get hurt in the process. As for me, maybe this is the difference I want to make of my life - without him. We live in a universe so big that a dying star, in the greater scheme of things, is as significant as spilled milk or an unkissed kiss. In an infinite amount of time, everything that can be forgotten, will be forgotten. As much as I respect wordcraft, the author turned out bludgeoning its beauty. The writing was a mixture of simple words crafted ambitiously. Yet, it barely pulled through. Here take a read: Another short poem: "The Dreams On The Line"... "I chased my dreams until I caught them/I chased my thoughts until I stopped thinking/And I chased my heart until I found you.

Iain S. Thomas does it again. This edition of I Wrote This For you was even more emotional and even more raw filled with stunning artwork and incredible words. Don’t you worry. Everything will be easier when they can just plug a fountain pen nib straight into your heart. I recommend this book to those who like short form prose and poetry, as well as those who enjoy photography. The project, which has proven incredibly popular across the world and gone on to become a best selling book, has also afforded him numerous exciting opportunities, including an invitation to dinner with the US Ambassador to South Africa, Donald Gipps as a consultant on digital development within South Africa, and a speaking spot at TEDx Johannesburg. In the book's powerful introduction, Thomas begins with "Dear You" explaining to readers he has written the book which had been previously lost, and was leaving his hands-- finding its way to each individual reader. He continues, that he hopes the writing, poetry and photos will find "You" well and simply signs it "Me".

I bought the earlier version of this book when I saw it in a bookstore while visiting my mother in Florida. I was mesmerized by the combination of poetry and photography, both of which are compelling in their own ways. Together, they add more nuance to one another.

I need you to understand something. I wrote this for you. I wrote this for you and only you. Everyone else who reads it, doesn’t get it. They may think they get it, but they don’t. This is the sign you’ve been looking for. You were meant to read these words.”The real problem here is the title. It should have been I Wrote This for Me. Really. The progression of pronouns from you to I probably went off unnoticed by the author since he was confused by who were who. Truth be told, the author himself was both you and I. Amazing uncovering. Damn. Father Palahniuk, I did it. Okay. Kidding aside, I think you are somewhere between narcissistic and problematic. However, the book is there to help you. Iian S. Thomas is a world wide bestselling Canadian author and poet, and currently lives in South Africa. "I Wrote This For You and Only You" is an innovative form of writing that speaks directly to the reader, giving the reader an intense deeply personalized reading experience and emotional connection with the surrounding world. Original excellent photographs of various subjects and compositions are featured throughout this collection by Jon Ellis. Thomas began writing this poetry series in 2007, and since then the appeal and demand for his books has steadily increased. It's not often that you wish you could call the author of a book you just finished to talk about life with said author.

I Wrote This for You and Only You is a book of poetry by Iain S. Thomas paired with photography by Jon Ellis. Thomas’s short prose poetry covers topics like the self, love, suicide (or rather, not doing it), and heartbreak.. As a creative director, he’s a champion for innovative design and communication for his clients which have included Nike, Levi’s, Johnny Walker, The Design Indaba, MTN, apple and many more, from Los Angeles, to Amsterdam, to Johannesburg, to Cape Town. His work has spanned everything from monuments to biodegradable posters. What I didn't like about this is that some of the entries are misplaced. Like some thoughts about love are in On Dying or On Despair (but it's okay, no worries about it). This little piece of magic touches me so deeply that I want to dig my fingers in its papers and hold it tight, forever. Photo's of our daily lives, but the way it is presented, with the poems, makes is something more. A subway is suddenly loneliness, the trees become love, the ocean is kindness and your mind is the creator of the story. This book is YOURS. The words are chosen thoughtfully. The author is speaking directly to you and everyone will see something else in it. When I read poetry, I expect to feel something. Of course, poetry doesn't have to make literal sense, but I expect the meaning of the poem to be felt.
