Description

Heat Transfer Vinyl, also often referred to as HTV or Iron on Vinyl, is a simple, easy to use, durable and cost-effective way to get started creating professional designs, shirts and garments with less overhead than other design methods. At Customisable, we offer a wide range of high-quality HTV options, like our HTVRONT White HTV. It’s perfect for all kinds of crafting projects. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced crafter, our products provide exceptional results that will last a long time. Here are some reasons why you should consider buying our HTVRONT White HTV. Next, trim away the excess clear HTV and the excess white iron-on and "weed" the designs by removing the excess vinyl around the outside edges of the solid design shapes. To walk you through the processing of making your own iron on vinyl projects, I am going to make myself a new t-shirt (yay!). using my Craft Queen design. 1. Prepare Cut File

Use the design you have uploaded to Cricut Design Space to print your sublimation print and cut your HTV. You will want to weed the HTV layers and then you will be ready to make your sublimation shirts. I am using my Cricut AutoPress to make these shirts. Because sublimation calls for a higher temperature, we will do that layer first. This will also allow us to know exactly where our HTV is going to go. Next, place your printed and cut design face down on top of the HTV, making sure it’s properly aligned. Use heat-resistant tape to secure it. Standard HTVs allow you to create a design, cut it on a plotter/cutter (such as a Silhouette Cameo or Cricut cutter for beginners and hobbyists, or a Graphtec, Summa or Roland plotter for larger companies), “weed away” the excess vinyl and heat-apply it onto a substrate, primarily fabrics such as t-shirts and other clothing. The next step is called “weeding.” Basically, weeding just means removing any excess vinyl from around your design that you do not want to be transferred to your final product. How to Avoid Wasting Vinyl when Weeding When compared to traditional screen printing or heat transfer vinyl (HTV), sublimation on white HTV offers several advantages. Screen printing involves creating a separate screen for each color in the design, which can be time-consuming and expensive. HTV, on the other hand, can be limited in terms of the colors and designs that can be achieved. Sublimation on white HTV, however, offers unlimited color options and the ability to print intricate designs with ease.

We hope that our heat press guide has been an informative source of help in you choosing the right heat press for your business needs. Now that you know how to sublimate clear HTV, I’d love to see YOUR awesome sublimation creations. Please share them with me! You can post a photo in our Facebook group or tag me on social media with #jennifermaker. Follow the same steps in Step 3 above to print and cut your design and HTV layers. Note that here you will have three mats instead of two. Make sure all are mirrored before continuing to print and cut.

The two offsets should be just barely smaller than the design. This approach helps blend the design’s edges, but if you want to have all of the design on white and more visible, set the Offsets to 0.when applied with a heat press and washed at the lowest temperature recommended by either the garment or HTV. The most common cut file type is probably SVG, but you might be using a .Studio, .png, .dxf, or .jpg file depending on the software you are using. I personally am a fan of SVG files because they work with most cutting software. (NOTE: You must have at Silhouette Studio Designer Edition or higher to use SVG files, and I definitely recommend that Silhouette users upgrade to Silhouette Studio Designer Edition. You can find more information on using different file types with your Silhouette here.) Where to Find Cut Files

If your cut design is considerably smaller than the piece of vinyl you cut it from, then before weeding, I recommend trimming off that extra vinyl. You can just use a pair of scissors to cut around your design. This allows you to use the rest of your vinyl piece for another project. (In my weeding images below, I actually cut a rectangle around my design with my Silhouette first and and then trimmed off the extra vinyl with scissors after weeding. Either way works!) Tips for Weeding Heat Transfer Vinyl You could also use this same process for sports shirts and any elements you wanted to be reflective. You could add reflective HTV over a sublimation design the same way we did the white sublimation designs above. To really get good pressure, I prefer to use an ironing pad like this one on a sturdy table instead of a folding ironing board. You can also try putting a wooden cutting board on your table. How to Iron The quality of your sublimation transfer greatly depends on the type of printer you use. A sublimation printer uses special sublimation ink that turns into gas when heated. The gas then permeates the fabric and solidifies, creating a permanent transfer. It is essential to use a sublimation printer as it allows for a smoother and more vibrant transfer of the design onto the HTV. Sublimation Ink Related: A Guide To Self Adhesive Vinyl: Types, Uses, And Application Tips Preheating the White HTV before Sublimation We carry a large selection of colors and styles in popular, high-quality HTV materials including Siser EasyWeed , Thermoflex , Politape, Chemica and WALAKut. We also offer a variety of specialty vinyl to enhance your designs, including glitter HTV, printed pattern HTV, neon colors , metallic HTV and more! Looking for regular craft vinyl instead of HTV? We also carry a variety of adhesive craft vinyl .

By following these steps to prepare the white HTV for sublimation, you can help to ensure a smooth and successful transfer process. With a little bit of care and attention to detail, you can achieve high-quality, professional-looking results that are sure to impress. Why do these work when regular permanent vinyl doesn’t? Because these specialty vinyls have a polymer coating on them, which can be sublimated! But what if you don’t want to use glitter, holographic, or glow-in-the-dark vinyl, or printable vinyl? As a general rule, if the surface is hard and smooth (such as walls, bottles, signs and mirrors), self-adhesive vinyl is the correct choice. However, if your surface is soft and can withstand heat (such as t-shirts, hoodies and bags), Heat Transfer Vinyl is the best choice. However, there’s no exception to this – When applying onto wood, Heat Transfer Vinyl often gives a better bond than self-adhesive vinyl providing it can be heat-applied onto. Most transfers produced today which are made from CAD-Cut flex/vinyl will outlast the life of the garment that it is bonded to, providing it is applied and washed in accordance with the instructions provided. HTV materials are very durable, but to ensure that there aren’t issues we recommend that they are ironed on the reverse and not over the top of the design, and to avoid using steam as this could affect the adhesive and the longevity of the design. Do All HTV Material Brands Match In Colour?Use the Layers Panel to make sure you have the new layer selected and change the Operation to "Basic Cut." The shape will automatically change to gray, which is fine. Vibrant Colours: Get ready to make your designs pop! Our HTV offers a wide range of eye-catching colours that will elevate your projects to a whole new level. The intense pigmentation ensures that your creations will stand out from the crowd. Long-lasting Durability: Our HTV is made to withstand the test of time. With its exceptional quality, your designs will retain their vibrant colours and crisp details wash after wash. A: While some sublimation is hot peel, most is cold. After sublimating the clear HTV, let the sublimation paper sit for 5-10 seconds before hot peeling. In regards to the vinyl, the clear sublimation HTV is cold peel. After applying the clear sublimation HTV you should let it cool completely before attempting to peel away the carrier sheet. The white iron-on vinyl, however, is hot peel in this project (but not usually). Remember that sometimes we use materials differently based on the project!
