Arriving at the scene, DI Vera Stanhope is relieved to have an excuse to escape the holiday festivities. As she stands on the silent, snow-covered station platform, Vera feels a familiar buzz of anticipation, sensing that this will be a complex and unusual case. Soon Vera and Joe are on their way to the south Northumberland town of Mardle, where Margaret lived, to begin their inquiry. But he has much more ambitious plans for the former indoor market, known as Celandine Hall, he has acquired a lease for in Harbour Street. The pair say their own reading habits are history and the "weird and wonderful" which is reflected in the eclectic mix of books they sell. People used to give Harbour Street a wide berth but it has so much potential which is now being realised," he said.

Ample free parking is available on Harbour Street itself or in either of the two public car parks just off Harbour Street. Cllr Ara said: “The gate has reduced the amount of vehicles entering Harbour Street and passing through the town centre. As the mayor I have, over the last few months, been delighted to have been present at the opening of several new businesses, that have opened up in Harbour Street. As the mayor and a business owner I welcome them in our town and I wish them all, every success.”I didn't expect the final reveal. Those cleverly disguised dead ends had me completely fooled, which is just the way I like it. But Harbour Street is one of those books that you don't want to finish, because the journey has been so engrossing and enjoyable, and I was sorry to say goodbye to Mardle." The launch date is some way off yet but George's vision is to offer customers the very best experience, whether just having a cream tea or enjoying an intimate wedding reception. And he has a Michelin-starred pastry chef on board to help make it happen. Shallow bay window to front elevation, tile fireplace and hearth with inset coal effect electric fire, ‘V’ lining to ceiling, radiator, fitted carpet. LIVING ROOM: - 13' 8'' x 11' 7'' (4.17m x 3.52m) And it can't come a moment too soon for a town which just a few months ago was hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons, including violent crime. Ramsgate’s Harbour Street can boast yet another new business with the opening of Book Bodega last week.

Newcastle was full of people and friendly, they walked arm in arm between the art galleries , crossing the tyne by the Blinking Eye Bridge.” Shallow bay to front elevation, open fireplace and hearth, two alcoves with built-in low-level cupboards with shelving above, radiator, fitted carpet, access to kitchen/breakfast room: KITCHEN/BREAKFAST ROOM: - 16' 0'' x 10' 1'' (4.88m x 3.07m)Two spacious double bedrooms, each with solid wood king-size beds and matching bedroom furniture, LCD TVs with freeview and harbour views. Recently Cllr Ara officially opened a new book shop, Book Bodega, and Jamaican restaurant Jah Jah. A new American-style diner, called the T.L.C, is also about to launch. Will Mitchell in his new American diner T.L.C in Harbour Street, Ramsgate Another planned opening is the Modern Boulangerie Cafe and Deli which is the brainchild of entrepreneur George Bellamy-Adams who already runs a bakery in Westcliff Road in the town. The Harbourside Market also holds a strong ethos. It was born in 2010 from bar/restaurant/gig venue No.1 Harbourside, which holds a three-star award from the Sustainable Restaurant Association. Traders share in the market’s values – championing creativity, sustainability & responsibility, ethical sourcing, handcrafted goods that last, and shopping locally. For example, we now have Indian, Chinese, Italian, American, Caribbean and Turkish cuisine as well as traditional British fish and chips. I also understand a French restaurant could be opening soon."

Timber half frosted glazed door, downlights, radiator, fitted carpet, access to sitting/dining room, bathroom, living room, stair: SITTING ROOM: (currently used as a dining room) - 13' 9'' x 12' 10'' (4.19m x 3.92m) The major refurbishment of a significant Regency building has also provided six new flats and a ground floor retail space which could become an art studio. Most of the places featured in the book are indeed fictional – Mardle, Partington and of course Harbour Street itself doesn’t exist – but the TV version of the novel was filmed in and around the village of Amble in Northumberland – which is utterly gorgeous and not at all like its fictional village – not in the slightest! But that is changing and it is fast becoming one of the county's most vibrant locations, with the help of exciting business launches and huge new investment, including government heritage grants which are transforming the area.As a fan of the North East and in defence of the lovely village of Amble, I have to say that Mardle in no way ressembles it. Thank goodness is all I can say. I mean there’s lots about Harbour Street that’s not attractive – hidden secrets, dark pasts, twisted thoughts and the fact that none of the residents here seem willing to talk. The Harbourside Street Food Market combines Bristol’s best street eats with one of the city’s most scenic spots, every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Harbourside Market has proved a hit with locals and tourists alike, whether visitors are after a freshly baked loaf of bread, a tasty and filling lunch or unique and handcrafted gifts. See what it’s all about and head to the harbour this weekend!

We are hoping that these new businesses and the general improvements to the street scene will help draw people up into the town. Bob Marley's reggae music suitably sets the mood when I visit the pair to talk about their venture. The number of builders' vehicles jamming the pedestrianised street confirms the activity as contractors set about converting upper floors into flats while refurbishing retail space on the ground floors. I was very happy to read about the Lit and Phil and seeing it get such a nice mention in the novel – where books are cherished and where one of the characters goes to read.
