I would not take these out... definitely not portable cans at all and it would be a sin to scratch them

Also can anybody recommend some headband cover for these? Especially, leather would be nice. I know about ZMF Pilot is there anything else? The good news doesn’t end there, either. The headband isn’t just some plastic strap - it’s solid aluminium, with both natural sheepskin leather on the outside, and stitched engineered leather on the inside. I think the yokes connected to the headband are a big improvement compared to the previous Denon cans, no more hinge screw issues.

Hey guys, I have tried to play with the EQ for the Denon D7200. I had issues to actually install and run the Equalizer APO for my new DAC but it was down to the missing drivers. The APO is a great software to EQ the whole system rather than just music player or other software. It can enable by itself as soon as you turn on your computer, great stuff.

The highs are fantastic, I don’t find them too harsh or too bright. The level of clarity and detail offered by these cans are very high. They are very resolving with superb definition, very insightful. They are definitely not veiled or muddy sounding. I don’t find them fatiguing either. There’s plenty to love about Denon’s mellifluous tone. In fact, you may prefer this balance if you’re after long, comfortable listening sessions. They aren’t very heavy either weighing in at 385 grams, which is only 55 grams heavier than Sennheiser's HD800 and 165 grams lighter than the Audeze LCD 2.

The term “Free edge” refers to the physical edge of the driver itself, which does away with the traditional rubber surround that a driver usually employs. As part of Denon’s reference range, the D7200 claims a relatively flat frequency response, offering accurate sound – just as the artists intended. Listening to a variety of music genres, the sound is clear and detailed, with punchy but not overbearing bass, and its natural clarity is surely aided by the real-wood ear cups. I have not experienced with different cables and pads yet but in this thread there is a ton of info about this... not sure why its not about EQ as that can improve the sound significantly !! Denon has been in the headphone game for 50 years, and it shows. Incredible aesthetics, perfect build, and incredible bass - what’s not to love?I have been listening to lot of high quality .flac music, all kinds of different genres and also enjoying them while watching movies and little bit of gaming. With the AH D7200, Denon brings a similar design from its previous model and expands on its depth. There are more inconsistencies with the sound signature, especially in the mids, but it shines with its extension and more immediate grasp on the sound. I’m not certain this is a substantial upgrade from the D5200, but it will definitely be one to choose for its level of intricate layering and textured response. Pros Denon also brings over its FreeEdge driver technology to the D7200. It features a 50mm unit with a nanofiber diaphragm for low rigidity and mass. The signal is produced from the driver with a piston-like accuracy, minimizing distortion. Soundstage The unique FreeEdge drivers that are included in the AH-D7200 headphones are 50mm in diameter and are made out of nano-fibre material that has been chosen for its rigidity and low mass. These drivers help to deliver an accurate pistonic motion that will not create any distortion. The drivers are also self-damping, which means they are able to cancel out any unwanted resonances within the diaphragm, allowing for only the best sound reproduction. Mounted in a soft and compliant surround, the FreeEdge drivers are able to move easily in response to the music signal, with no flexing or distortion.

Denon AH-D7200 is the flagship Dynamic Headphone for Bassheads made by Denon. It is priced at 700 USD, and it will be compared to Beyerdynamic Amiron, Sennheiser HD660S, Dan Clark Aeon Flow, and Harmonic Dyne Zeus. Go here for photos and more subjective stuff: http://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/denon-d7200-new-flagship.2701/ As I started listening, the bass made me feel nostalgic. Just like the older Fostex/Denon flagships, it’s visceral, deep, driving, and powerful, but delicately controlled. I have tried lot of music with proper / harsh like highs to see if this EQ setting would be also suitable. To my ears this is set to the edge where the highs are really nice, airy and crisp without being too harsh, fatiguing or pierce sounding like.Anyway, please try them, tweak them, improve them and do not forget to share it. See if you turn these settings ON / OFF how much difference that makes. The AH-D7200 uses Denon’s proprietary “Free Edge” driver technology - the same tech that has been used previously in models such as their AH-MM400 and AH-D600 headphones. Oh, in case you were wondering: The AH-D7200 doesn’t fold, or flatten. And why should they? They look spectacular and should be sitting proudly on your shelf, not stored away in a bag somewhere.
