Each day, she tries her hardest to figure out how to break this “spell,” which offers some entertaining moments, funny ones, as well as moments of love. Love for her family, for a boy she had a crush on when she was young, as well as trying to create a more amicable relationship with her sister.

Sparkles with wit and warmth . . . I’ll read anything Lindsey writes, but this one might just be my new favourite of her novels”—BETH O’LEARY, author of The Flatshare As part of my work with UN Women, I have started reading OUR SHARED SHELF IS CURRENTLY DORMANT AND NOT MANAGED BY EMMA AND HER TEAM. Absolutely screamingly hilarious, full of Christmas-y sparkle and a lovely boy-next-door romance, but with some serious depth to bring you all the feels’ LIZZY DENTThen Gwen wakes up to discover it's Christmas day all over again. Like Groundhog Day but with turkey. And family arguments. On repeat. As she figures out how to escape her own particular Christmas hell, Dev is the one bright spot. He might be all grown-up but underneath he's just as kind and funny as she remembers. Pros: great writing, genuinely funny af (no boss babe or pander express humor), cool premise, great characters except for the dad but I don't like dads in general *shrugs*, cute ending that left me smiling in the dark with my lil reading light like a dummy

But this book isn't just kikikis. It gets deep with it, which I can appreciate. Kelk explores deftly explores dysfunctional families, failed relationships, and career struggles. And boy can she write. I think she'd be an excellent literary fiction writer. She's funny but she's got the technical skills and talent, too. This was my first read by author Lindsey Kelk, it was full-on dramarama at Christmas and I was so here for it. It was also very funny at times but heartwarming in equal measure. What surprised me the most was the fact that it wasn't repetitive as it had a Groundhog Day like plot. I loved how the romance wasn't the main focus of the story, the family was, and Gwen's relationships within it. Don't get me wrong is she definitely hot for the boy next door but that isn't what the book is about and I liked that about it.

When they arrive, she finds out from her mother that her Aunt Gloria called to let them know that her pregnant cousin Natalie had gone to the hospital, which means, perhaps, a Christmas baby. A festive romance with a twist . . . with plenty of funny moments and a whole load of emotion’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ As she figures out how to escape her own particular Christmas hell, Dev is the one bright spot. He might be all grown-up but underneath he’s just as kind and funny as she remembers. My husband can frequently be heard chortling to TV and radio shows playing through his headphones. This disturbance of my reading peace earns him the look, I mean why can't he enjoy it without loud guffaws that distract the rest of us? So you can imagine my mortification, and general eating of very humble pie, when I found myself constantly sniggering and outright giggling at The Christmas Wish. For the first time in a long time, I read a book, this book, in one sitting. It went beyond the question of not wanting to put it down and into the realm of being unable to put it down.Reading this book felt like opening a box of Quality Streets, getting out the Christmas edition of the Radio Times, then popping on a Santa Hat' SOPHIE COUSENS

An entertaining read, including a dash of potential romantic connections, family feuds, and a lot of shenanigans that added to the ‘joy’ of the holiday, along with other moments that offered insights into long-term family misunderstandings, as well as resolutions. This story was an okay read. A lot of family drama. I was thinking it was a romance story and looking forward to cute romance but there were little of it. A lot of repetition since the same day started over again like 6 times. So much whining about unhappy job, being dumped, and the ache for the boy next door.. I do enjoyed the humor though. If you're thinking this sounds too similar to In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren, while they have a similar macro-premise, the stories couldn't be more different. (though both great!) We have a superstition in Greece in which if you find a fallen eyelash on your friend's face, you hide it between your fingers, then you both make a wish and whoever gets it, they get their wish granted. My wish was for this book to be great and fun to the end. The pacing is a bummer. Despite the humor and everything, the story dragged in some places. A couple of themes are handled with a weeny bit extra emphasis, but that’s no big deal when the book delivers on the nice Christmasy feeling and a happy ever after.

I immediately Googled it and discovered that yes, to my chagrin, yeet is now a real word. It’s in the Merriam-Webster dictionary for goodness sake! This book was light, and very funny. It was not so much romance, but had more family shenanigans and funny times. I enjoyed watching Gwen's growth with herself and her family throughout the book. Why only 3.5⭐? Only because it just felt a little repetitive at times, but overall, an enjoyable holiday read! Another perfect romantic comedy from Lindsey Kelk, who always gets the balance of rom and com exactly right’ Sarra Manning, RED Thoughts: This was an adorable, hilarious and entertaining Christmas take on the common Groundhog’s Day trope. I will say that the romance is more of a side plot as about 75% of the story focused on Gwen finding her place in life and mending her relationships with each of her family members. I loved how with each Christmas, Gwen worked through the family drama and learned a lot about herself along the way. The days never felt repetitive and I thought Kelk did a great job adding in new dysfunctional and relatable antics each Christmas. The side romance storyline with Dev, her childhood neighbor and friend, was so swoon-worthy and one you will automatically route for. I also loved how all the dialogue, jokes and references between the cast of characters felt so properly British and on brand with the holidays. Lindsey Kelk has hit the sweet spot with a festive romcom that’s Groundhog Day meets The Family Stone ’ Stylist
