This group is not for regular fiction, historical fiction, non-fiction, young adult, or other non-historical romance book. Legendary spy and art restorer Gabriel Allon has slipped into Venice for a much-needed holiday with his wife and two young children. But when Pope Paul VII dies suddenly, Gabriel is summoned to Rome by the Holy Father's loyal private secretary, Archbishop Luigi Donati. A billion Catholic faithful have been told that the… Guang Ze Jiu Shi: Jin Yang Pian | 2007 | Zheng Yue, Ran Qinghuan | transmigration, historical, political, xianxia I’ve always been fascinated by our creative urges and ambitions, and by what makes us who we are and why we make the choices we do. While I’m interested in many aspects of human experience and psychology, from the mundane to the murderous, I’m especially drawn to narratives that probe our deeper psyches and look, particularly with a grain of humor, at our efforts to expand our understanding and create great works—or simply to become wiser and more enlightened beings. What is our place in the universe? Why are we here? Who are we? The books I’ve listed explore some of these matters in ways both heartfelt and humorous. A tender, beautifully told story of emotional growth, forgiveness [and] the possibility of miracles.”—Publishers Weekly (starred review)

A] carefully argued and learned account of how the clergy in pre-Conquest England were able to obtain liturgical books and put them to use in pastoral care." A book not just for historians but for all medievalists who work on the texts, both Latin and vernacular, of Anglo-Saxon England." Zandy Lynch never planned on going to grad school a virgin. So when her professor father finds her a job abroad as a research assistant the summer before she starts her master’s program, she sees her chance. So when the gorgeous, brilliant Zenny Iverson asks me to teach her about sex, I want to say yes, I really do. Unfortunately, there are several reasons to say no--reasons that even a very bad man like myself can't ignore. Now a major motion picture directed by Martin Scorsese, starring Liam Neeson, Adam Driver and Andrew Garfield. There were plans for an official welcome. It was to take place the following Sunday. But those who came to the rectory on Father Pennant's second day were the ones who could not resist seeing him sooner. Here was the man to whom they would confess the darkest things. It was important to feel him out. Mrs Young, for instance, after she had seen him eat a piece of her macaroni pie, quietly asked what he thought of adultery. Andre Alexis brings a modern sensibility and a new liveliness to an age-old genre, the pastoral. For his very first parish,… This book takes place in the windy city of Chicago and Clark is adept at making you feel like you are right there in the midst of the fast-paced, gritty city as you read. The stories of Aitor and Jacob, two priests selected to help rebuild the world following a nuclear apocalypse, are interwoven with those of Talik and Ziek, friends exiled from a city of mutants after Ziek exhibits symptoms of the dreaded Burdening disease.

This book made me laugh out loud multiple times due to the sheer ridiculousness of its story, its mile-wide plot holes, and dialogue that’s meant to come across as bold and sexy but reads more like someone who’s never spoken to another human being before. Poppy’s reasoning for becoming a sex worker is underdeveloped at best, as is her reasoning for the half-baked (and inevitable) third act break-up. Both of which are probably made worse by the fact that the book is entirely told from Tyler’s perspective, so we have no insight into Poppy’s seemingly nonsensical decision making. It’s a lot. But also I think we can all admit to ourselves that if you buy this book, you aren’t necessarily coming for a Pulitzer Prize-winning plot. I’m not a good man, and I’ve never pretended to be. I don’t believe in goodness or God or any happy ending that isn’t paid for in advance. I think they first meet in a short novel in the Beatrix Rose series. The book is called Phoenix. It also introduces Isabella Rose. What I can’t find as anything that covers John Miltons time in Group 15. The Cleaner starts when he left and from just starting the Beatrix Rose series so do those. Reply Tormjere has never left his home valley, peaceful in its isolation from both monsters and men. His first journey into the outside world meets with disaster, thrusting him into the realities of a kingdom on the brink of war. When librarian Poe Markham takes the job at Thornchapel, she only wants two things: to stay away from Thornchapel’s tortured owner, Auden Guest, and to find out what happened to her mother 12 years ago.

The John Milton series was his first noteworthy series after trying his hand on a few stand alone novels. Mark has said in his interviews that before becoming a well established author he used to work as a lawyer, serving his clients in the City of London and Soho, West End of London. Most of his clients included money launderers initially, but after a few years he began serving the celebrities who used to sue newspapers for libel. Sixteen hundred years ago, as the old world died, a ship carried thirty-three priests and one hundred pilgrims into orbit. One by one, the priests lived solitary lives, praying for salvation. At his vigil's end, Father Aitor wakes the final priest--Jacob, whom he loves--to lead the survivors as they rebuild civilization. Their mission is clear: bring Christ to the wilderness. But Aitor has never heard God's voice, and he is beginning to believe that Jacob hasn't either. And when they encounter strange, deformed creatures, doubt is not their only threat. In a nearby community, Talit has always believed in the… Guang Ze Jiu Shi: Shang Hua Pian | 2009 | Zheng Yue, Ran Qinghuan | transmigration, historical, political, xianxia

A compelling and original book....This outstanding first book...has launched a medieval historian of tremendous promise." I can’t have him because he’s my older brother’s best friend. I can’t have him because I broke his heart five years ago; because he’s now engaged to someone else—someone kind and dependable who deserves his whiskey eyes, his soft mouth, his fierce intellect.
