Photo settings can be changed in flight. Live video preview is 720p and easy to fly with. (Image credit: Adam Juniper/Digital Camera World) The experience of getting started and into the air with the Mini SE is very similar to other DJI aircraft (like the Mavic 3 or Mini 3 Pro) because they all use the app DJI Fly. The app is equipped with a useful tutorial – made of clear animated graphics and on-screen instructions. It’s not over-the-top or boring, and leaves you far equipped to fly further than a simple video would. Tested with a production model DJI Mini 2 SE in a controlled environment. Actual experience may vary depending on the environment, usage, and firmware version.

Level 5 wind resistance: At a wind speed of 10.7 m/s, the aircraft can still hover steadily and keep images stable

The option of digital zoom, provided on the Mini 2, shouldn’t really be a deciding factor. It’s odd that it wasn’t an option on the earlier Mini, since it is only a digital zoom which will be of limited use to optical purists, but it feels better to have than not to. If you’re planning on undertaking roof surveys, for example, the Mini 2’s option of digital zoom might well be a worthwhile distinction as you can get in tight on any suspicious areas. DJI Mini SE vs Mini 2: Software Features Flight time is measured in a controlled test environment. Specific test conditions are as follows: flying forward at a constant speed of 17 kph in a windless laboratory environment, in photo mode (without photo-taking operation during flight), and from 100% battery level until 0%.

If you own a drone, or are thinking of buying one, an important consideration is choosing the best drone case to help you protect your aircraft and transport it easily. The case is impact and drop resistant, corrosion resistant, and features a neoprene seal that when properly closed is designed to keep the case watertight and your Phantom gear protected even if submerged in shallow water. Weighing under 249 grams, DJI Mini SE is almost as light as the average smartphone. This makes it exceptionally portable and places it in the lowest and safest weight class of drones Personalising your drone with our DJI Mini SE accessories will further enhance every aspect of your drone flying experiences. Typical of HPRC cases, this solution is waterproof, and has high-intensity foam and a Vector Panel, making it a safe and durable choice. To aid transportation, the case has built-in wheels and an ergonomic handle, while an automatic pressure valve helps when travelling between different elevations.

With a range of industry-leading solutions available from companies such as HPRC, GPC, PGYTECH, PolarPro, and DJI, there is plenty of choice of drone cases available. But which one is best for you? This isn’t an area you’ll see a lot of differentiation between these drones for obvious reasons, but examining things closely yields a few differences. For one thing the 4K camera on the Mini 2 has a nice shiny trim and just above it is a light which can change hue to indicate different situations. But if you travel by air more, then the M600 Pro case (see next case option) is more suited to your needs because it is a smaller size, as you need to take the landing gear off to fit in the case. The hardshell case is impact and drop resistant, and, thanks to its neoprene seal, is watertight when properly closed. DJI O2 Transmission technology: A maximum video transmission range of 10 km with excellent anti-interference capabilities

At first glance, the Mini 2 SE looks to be pretty much like the now-discontinued Mavic Mini, the first of the company's drones to weigh less than 250 grams — the threshold for which you need to register it with the FAA. When closed, this watertight case can withstand being submerged in shallow water due to its neoprene seal. The various Walmart leaks had suggested that the DJI Mini SE would be much closer to the 2019 DJI Mavic Mini in terms of specs and ability, and almost identical bar a few exterior design tweaks. As a word of warning, the case is not suitable for the RTK model, but provides plenty of storage space for the M200 and M210 V2 drones, plus accessories.Under the video heading, the Mini 2 has a very distinct advantage if 4K is of use to you. It is worth stopping to think whether it is; if you’re producing for YouTube you’d be surprised how few viewers switch up to 4K, for example, and plenty of screens are small enough that it’s hard to justify the server load. We thought the flying experience was solid and dependable, and appreciated that the bottom sensors both prevented violent crashing into the ground, and made drift-free indoor use possible (outdoors the GPS helps with this). High-quality imaging: A 3-axis gimbal and 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor that takes 12MP and photos shoots video at 2.7K HD

If you can run to it, we’d suggest that the Mini 2 is the better choice, featuring as it does a good bit more flexibility when it comes to stills and video, not to mention a bit more straight-line speed. If you’re in a few countries, like the UK, DJI has even spared you the effort of making that decision by failing to release the Mini SE where you can buy it. I'm not an expert on UAV but I got the feeling action cameras rarely offered wired control for FPV drones... like I don't think the drone specific Insta360 sphere offers wired control of their camera... does DJI offer it for Osmo Action or the Action Cube camera? Video is captured at either 2.7K 30fps (that’s 2720 x 1530 pixels) or 1080p at up to 60fps. As a low-resolution ‘economy’ option, this is better than you might expect. The bitrate is 40Mbps, which is also a bit lower than some, especially since the only compression algorithm option is H.264, not H.265. The case has been specially designed for use with the Ronin-MX, with GPC saying that it is the number one choice for professionals. However, cavity adjustments have been added for all of the Zenmuse gimbals.

This GPC case is made with precision water jet engineered foam and housed in a premium military/industrial grade SKB case. Dimensions: External: 670 x 677 x 388.5mm / 26.38 x 26.65 x 15.3 inches. Internal: 611 x 611 x 345mm / 24.05 x 24.05 x 13.58 inches. Still the Mini 2 offers 4K and it does looks significantly better than the Mini SE to the detail-orientated examination. The higher bit-rate is a contributing factor there, though it’s fair to say that the throughput on the Mini SE isn’t as far behind as the numbers suggest.
