And because this film takes its time before the Deadites are introduced, there’s a lot of space to fill in the first act that really isn’t needed. This goes all in with sonic atmosphere, just smothering the listening in an omni-directional assault that never once lets go. From the drip-drip-drip of the storms to the bombastic LFE of the Book of the Dead recording to the intense Deadite attack sequences, there’s never a quiet or dull moment in this film!

The back artwork isn’t all that impressive, and neither is the inside art since it’s identical to the two discs, but I love the detail of the cheesegrater on the spine! First of all, this film is really very good indeed, it has everything a fan of the franchise wants and setting it in a dingy old apartment block is great, you don't miss the cabin. Yeah, I may be proven wrong later in the year, but so far this is probably one of the single best Atmos tracks I’ve ever heard, and is singularly the best part of this entire package (both the 4K UHD and Blu-ray have the same audio tracks).But maybe since some of the bigger studios are moving away from physical media and allowing other boutique home video companies to take the reigns, maybe in the near future there will be a bigger collector's release with tons of bonus content. Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead trilogy is one of the most seminal horror (or horror/comedy depending on how you look at them) sets of all times. The horror sequel has been one of the surprise critical hits of the year thus far and has done moderately at the box office, so the next step is a home video rollout. I’m not going to go full on Charlie Day here and make over the top tie ins to prove how every one of the films are connected, but there are distinct hints that make you wonder just HOW connected to the originals each of the newer ones are.
