Description

Removal of any vegetation growth that may have occurred, taking care not to damage the waterproofing. These systems are installed using a few different methods. Self Adhesive Bitumen installation involving heat-activated 'DUO' technology, hot air welding techniques or adhesive bonding with PIR flat board insulation to provide solutions that are durable, resilient to the natural elements and give excellent fire resistance. Bauder Approved Contractors are the only people fully trained and certified to install our products, providing the necessary experience that our exceptional guarantee demands. A Cure It roof is a Glass Reinforced Polyester (GRP) fibreglass roofing system. Constructed from a GRP laminate, it has a specially formulated liquid roofing resin and reinforcement mat. Suitable for complex shapes, the material is cut to suit the roof and, again, no heat is required! The Cure It flat roof materials come with a 20-year guarantee. Unfortunately, there is no easy fix to this. You’ll need to get a professional out to look at it and find a solution. Bitumen is the primary raw material used in the production of bituminous waterproofing membranes. It is a byproduct of oil refining and is essentially the waste material of this petrochemical process and therefore has little additional detrimental effect on the environment.

We have a large range of torch-on flat roof felts from leading manufacturers including Geco, Bailey and IKO online and in-store. Upgrading existing roofs must achieve a U-value of 0.15 W/m 2K, refer to Approved Document Part L for full requirements for new elements in existing dwellings, extensions, renovating elements in existing dwellings and necessary U-values. Even if it’s the whole surface that needs waterproofing, some of Roofing Superstore’s more extensive products are easy-to-apply and are designed to be a long-term solution. For example, the Acrypol range can be painted onto virtually any flat roof surface and its Acrypol 15 system is so durable that it’s guaranteed for 15 years. Limit access to your roof unless it’s been designed to take regular footfall. If you need to walk on it, use temporary boards

And finally, keep your roof clean. Any build-up of moss or algae can contribute to trapped moisture that can lead to damage to the waterproof membrane So when will you require a new roof? Well, you might want to consider re-roofing should you wish to improve your flat roof’s insulating properties. Adding more insulation will protect the room below from condensation and may lower your heating bills, paying for itself in the long run. And if you wished to change the use of your flat roof, perhaps by transforming it into a balcony or roof garden, a new roof could make the existing structure strong enough to hold the weight of your guests at your next rooftop barbecue.

They’re easily applied in two coats. Each coat takes just 20 minutes to cure and they provide an attractive surface once they’re finished. Any gutters and downpipes must be sized to suit the flat roof size and local conditions in accordance with BS EN 12056-3. The slope of the roof should be designed to slope toward the gutter and downpipes. To avoid cold bridging, the insulation must be continuous from the flat roof to the wall insulation, and penetrations must be carefully detailed. Insulation should be lightly butted to avoid thermal bridging caused by gaps. The most common flat roof joist sizes tend to be 150 x 50mm, 175 x 50mm and 200 x 50mm. The spacing will depend on the span and loads, but usually we can see flat roof joist spacing between 400mm and 600mm centres. For more information on blistering, ponding and alligatoring, read Roofing Superstore’s guide to common flat roofing problems. The inverted roof puts the insulation above the roof covering. The insulation is then protected with a layer of ballast, chippings or concrete paving. This system is often seen in more commercial projects. The waterproofing layer is protected by the insulation, but it can be difficult to locate defects if there is a leak. Spread roofing cement to the bottom of the patch and place the asphalt onto the ponding area. Cut more circles out, each time increasing the circle size by four inches until you have 10 circles. Each time place the patch on top of the previous one, use roofing cement. Step three: Finalise your repair

If you’re a business owner and need a large-scale solution for your industrial property, Acrypol 15 is perfect for the job. Like Acrypol System 10, it’s fast and easy to install, but it also comes with added features that make it even more long-lasting.

When choosing the right flat roof covering, you need to take a number of considerations into account, including the look you want to achieve, the size of your flat roof, the type of weather it’ll face, and the amount of labour it will require. Our long-established and fully integrated roof systems incorporate SBS modified elastomeric bitumen membranes andhighly efficient PIR insulation and holds fire classification B ROOF(t4) on defined permutations for compliance with building regulations under TS 1187 test method 4 for external fire exposure to roofs and verified by the BBA and stated on our certification. All systems feature torch-freeand torch-safeinstallationtechniques for detailing on, or adjacent to combustible materials. When considering the best flat roof material, your priorities and budget will factor considerably in your decision. Hopefully, the various flat roof covering options outlined above will give you a clearer idea of what you need for your project. Spotted something on your flat roof and don’t know what it is? We can help you identify some common trouble spots, and give you tips on what to do. Blistering Use a stiff brush to remove all dirt and debris, then pressure wash the whole area. Apply Acrypol Sealer, then use a silicone filler on any splits. Apply the Acrypol System 10 undercoat and while wet, use the Acrypol flexible mesh scrim and smooth flat. Finally, apply the System 10 topcoat in your chosen colour with a paintbrush.
