Description

They may not seem like a big deal, but the front compression straps just might save your day when traveling. I like this feature, but it mostly appeals to hardcore Osprey fans. It’s not worth it to actually buy both this and a Daylite, just to be able to switch between the two. But, if you’re already a proud owner of a Daylite or a Daylite Plus, you’ll be happy to know that the Farpoint Trek is compatible with both. Compatible With Hydraulics LT Reservoirs In this Osprey Farpoint 55 review, I’ll give you my honest take after years of experience traveling to 10 countries while testing the bag out in real-world conditions.

By the way, the Trek version of the Farpoint does not have an S/M or M/L version, since it can be adjusted to any height. It also opens suitcase-style from the side and not from the top, so you can always access everything very easily. This is perfect for when you mostly stay in hotels or in hostels. There are also 70-liter versions, though I personally consider these too large for general travel purposes. Features of the Farpoint Trek 55 But if you are going on a longer and more adventurous trip, I think the Farpoint Trek 55 will work really well. Speaking of the harness, taking a closer look and throwing it over your shoulders will be great thanks to a pair of well-padded straps, a waist belt and a sternum harness complete with funky panic whistle. The main bag also features a couple of grab handles, great for manoeuvrability when you need to throw it into an overhead bin or are just in the mood to carry it like a chunky rustic briefcase.

All other features when comparing the Osprey Fairview 40 vs 55 are the same as when comparing the Farpoint versions. The Fairview is also available in a 70-litre size but doesn’t come in an 80-litre version. Osprey Farpoint vs Farpoint Trek

Testing the backpack

The Trek opens from the side, like a suitcase. The items in the center are held together by compression straps, keeping everything else in place too. But if you don’t spend a lot of time outdoors, then you’re better off with the classic Farpoint. It’s better suited for travel, and it is available in more sizes.

If I were going on a big round-the-world trip or gap year today — one that would take me through multiple climates — I would likely go for this set-up instead of just a single carry-on. Conclusion Two of the most popular sizes the Farpoint 40 and 55 are very similar, however, there are also a couple of major differences you need to be aware of.When product pictures of the new Farpoint got released, I saw many comments on forums comparing it to the Osprey Porter. They do look a bit similar in pictures, but the Farpoint is absolutely NOT as structured or as stiff as the Porter. It is available in just two sizes, both of which are too big to be considered a carry-on. And that is one reason why I’m not so impressed with the travel aspect of this bag.

Support for a water bladder. A water system for trekking is not included, but you can easily add one if you want. This guide has focused on understanding the differences between the sizes of the Osprey Farpoint series. However, once you’ve decided on whether the Farpoint 40, 55, 70 or 80 is right for you, you are still left in one decision: should you buy the Farpoint S/M or M/L version? Although the Farpoint/Fairview series isn’t necessarily designed for hiking, they are comfortable enough to take on hikes during your travels. Where to buy Osprey Farpoint 55

Conclusion

Another great addition isthe full-length zippered mesh panel on the underside of the flap (see the green area in the image) which is great for smaller items. You can never take too many safety precautions when traveling. Clearly, Osprey agrees as they’ve equipped the Farpoint 55 with an inconspicuous rescue whistle right on the chest strap. If you get hurt somewhere or encounter another emergency, this little feature could save your life. Side Handle The Farpoint 40 is shorter (3″) and wider (1″) and deeper (3″) in size Farpoint 55 Dimensions & Space Laptop/Tablet Sleeve – padded internal compartment which can alternatively be used to house a water bladder In this review, I am going to show you exactly what to watch out for as well as the features they share so you can get the perfect overview and make an easy decision.
