When you are heating up your water, all you have to do is flip the kettle’s spout cap down and the kettle’s whistle will blow to indicate that the water is ready. The OXO Brew Classic Whistling Tea Kettle is our favorite kettle. It has a built-in whistle that alerts you when your water is boiling so you don’t have to worry about overcooking anything by keeping an eye on the stove. The soft-grip handle and wide-opening lid make it easy to grab and pour. Its brushed stainless steel body makes it easy to clean and durable so it’ll last for years. This 1.7-quart kettle has a removable, heat-resistant knob and ergonomic handle, as well as a single-tone whistle. Plus, the kettle is not only stylish but also durable: it's non-reactive, stain- and chip-resistant, and safe for all heat sources. During testing, 2 cups of water took 5 minutes to boil, and our tester noted that the whistle was louder when the kettle had more water. It does appear that filling this to the max, though, will cause some spillage during pouring. The handle can be swiveled to the side for easy cleaning.

Cheyenne Elwell has been writing about coffee (and lots of other food topics) for The Spruce Eats since 2018. She runs a coffee blog called Baked, Brewed, Beautiful, and she tested the Cosori and Fellow Stagg kettles at home prior to our Lab testing. I think the Caraway Whistling Tea Kettle is a beautiful kitchen appliance that should last for years, even though it has some quirks I didn’t expect given the price.

Overall, pouring is smooth. Like most kettles, the last couple ounces can dribble a bit, however. We found the 2-quart capacity large enough for anything we used the kettle for, from tea to pour-over coffee. Our classic whistling tea kettle will look great in any kitchen or home! Unlike other kettles where pushing down on the top starts whistling without any heat or steam getting out–which means it’s going to burn your fingers–this one will only whistle when the temperature of the water inside it reaches a certain level. To keep your hands safe while still giving you a foolproof whistle after The kettle boasts of a sleek and modern appearance that can complement any kitchen or living room décor. The tall and imposing of this tea kettle sits regally on the table owing to its unique structural design that consists of a large handle for trouble-free pouring. Tea kettles come in many different sizes, though the ones we tested ranged mostly from 1 to 2 quarts. In general, electric kettles tend to have slightly lower capacity than stovetop ones (and our top-rated electric kettle is also the smallest one we tested). What's important is to match your kettle size to your needs. If you usually make a single cup of tea or fill a small French press, you might not want a huge kettle taking up space on your stovetop or in your cabinet. If you often entertain large crowds, however, it’s nice to be able to serve everyone without waiting for a second batch of water to boil. When you’re shopping for a tea kettle, it is important to consider every feature available to you. For instance, many stovetop kettles are small, so they likely won't take up a lot of space, but their materials and capacity will matter depending on how frequently you need to use them. We kept these attributes in mind when we tested our top kettles. All were sent to home kitchens to determine how long it took a couple of cups to get to a boil, how pouring boiling water felt, and if the kettle was easy to clean.

Our Lab team has spent collective decades working in professional kitchens, developing recipes, and testing kitchen gear. The top is easy to remove but is prone to fingerprint marks, while the finish on the kettle's body is fingerprint-resistant. That said, it’s relatively easy to clean even though the opening is tight for somebody with larger hands. The exterior finish has a beading effect on water, making clean-up and drying easy. Overall, this kettle provides fantastic performance and style and is a great choice for everyday use. If you’re looking to make the perfect cup of tea, then there are a few things that you need to look at before you start. Tea is an art form, and it is often one that takes a lifetime to master. When you’re first starting out, it can be overwhelming especially if you don’t know what equipment you need.

OXO BREW Easy Open Classic Tea Pot Kettle, 1.7-Quart

This kettle can hold up to 1.7 liters of water, so if you’re just brewing for one or two this is a great option. You want to make sure your kettle can function on all heat sources effectively. Kettles made from cast iron can scratch the surface of an induction stove, for instance. Then, consider the kettle's weight, which can get heavier once water is added. So if that’s an issue, look for a lightweight model. And all stovetop tea kettles should have the ability to whistle to alert you once your water has boiled. If you are looking for a classic tea kettle that has a large capacity and a comparatively narrow spout that ensures that the brewing liquid flows steadily into your cup, then you should look no further than the OXO kettle. The Caraway Whistling Tea Kettle makes a great first impression. Right out of the box, we loved the matte coating and simple, somewhat tapered silhouette. You can feel how hefty and durable the stainless steel parts are, too, which helps justify the kettle’s high price tag. (Although, in the end we think there are far better value-for-money options out there.)

OXO BREW Classic Tea Kettle - Brushed Stainless Steel

The OXO Brew Classic Tea Kettle is an excellent choice for those looking for an efficient-yet-affordable option. This model was the winner of the boiling test, bringing water to 212 degrees Fahrenheit in just a little over four minutes. Plus, after 10 minutes, it proved its impressive heat retention at 192 degrees Fahrenheit.Fill your kettle with one part water and one part vinegar and bring it to a boil. Once the mixture is boiling, turn off the heat and let the solution sit for at least 20 minutes. After that, pour out the solution, and rinse with water, gently scrubbing any mineral buildup. For the exterior, simply use a sponge with warm soapy water, wipe clean, and rinse. Finally, to remove any leftover residue, fill the kettle with water, bring it to a boil, pour it out, and dry it completely. Value: After concluding all of our other tests, we revealed the retail prices of the kettles. Stovetop kettles are generally less expensive than electric ones, so we looked at the categories separately, comparing individual prices to the average for each type.

OXO BREW Easy Open Classic Tea Pot Kettle, 1.7-Quart

The Mr. Coffee Tea Kettle is surprisingly sturdy and efficient at heating water for the price. The stainless steel kettle comes in three colors: brushed satin, metallic red, and mirror polish. This kettle can hold up to 1.5 quarts, with a stationary Bakelite handle, and a tightly sealed spout cover. We sent this home to one of our editors to see how this product performed in her home kitchen. For her first test, it took about 4 minutes over medium-high heat for 2 cups of water to come to a boil, with the kettle whistling at 180 degrees, and the water was lukewarm (100 degrees) an hour later. The whistle wasn't the loudest ever, though it could be heard from a couple of rooms away. We found the heatproof handle on the Susteas kettle to be very effective, but it doesn't fold down, which makes it take up a lot of shelf space. (On the other hand, it looks nice enough to live on the stovetop.) With that huge capacity, this kettle is fairly heavy and awkward when full, and we found that it doesn't hold heat for very long. The OXO Good Grip kettle can hold about 1.7 quarts of water, which is actually more than some of the other expensive models currently in the market. Able to boil more than 7 cups of water, this kettle is perfect for a large family. Another slight criticism we have, and one that more directly affected our experience, is that the handle can get too hot to touch depending on the stovetop temperature. The brand recommends using low to medium heat to best protect the kettle and, presumably, to ensure the handle doesn’t get too hot. We typically used medium-high or high heat when boiling water, however, and a significant amount of customers would likely do the same. On high heat, the water reaches a boil at almost exactly 10 minutes on both a gas burner and electric burner.
