Description

Cado Ezechiar instead is the protagonist of a series of novels from John French entitled The Hollow King. He cannot get any subfaction keyword but his melee profile has rend -2, higher than other vampires, and his signature spell allows either to do mortal wounds to an enemy unit or heal/resurrect friendly Summonable units. Previously limited to Nagash, his Mortarchs and a select few vampire units, Deathly Invocation heals D3 wounds (or equivalent models) on Summonable units. Now it comes with every Hero unit, though it scales up in power. Key to your survival, keeping your weaker units alive. Locus of Shyish So, it appears that the Lumineth Realm-Lords are really the winners of this, but everything is about equal. None of these lists are really BAD, except I don’t find any value in the Hedonites of Slaanesh. They don’t bring any of their really good-looking units to the table in these battleforces. But the other three all have a few charms. I likely won’t get any of them, but if you’re a collector, the Age of Sigmar Christmas Box is always a bonus. Elsewhere in the Warhammer Community post, four new battleforce boxes were revealed, one for the Soulblight Gravelords, Hedonites of Slaanesh, Lumineth Realm-Lords, and Ossiarch Bonereapers.

While those of you in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand can start collecting your bone tithe right now, this box will be dropping a little later for the rest of the world. These all rule, and a lot of why you might see more Vyrkos going forwards resides here. Firstly we have the Ulfenkarni Phylactery which improves the deathless minions save of summonable units wholly within 9” to a 5+. That’s a huge boost on a basic level, but note that this is explicitly a boost to deathless minions, and a number of summonable units get to re-roll 1s on their deathless wards, so even better. Vampires are supernatural beings, neither alive nor dead – powerful necromancers with keen minds who can enthral at a glance and raise the dead with but a gesture from their pallid hands.

Now, just because I am biased towards anything that resembles a dinosaur, we’ll start with the Seraphon formerly known as the Lizardmen. All these miniatures are brand new sculpts, all released earlier in the year, much needed updates on 30 year old sculpts. Heroes can perform Heroic Actions, in addition to the other abilities they can perform. You do it in the hero phase and you can only do one heroic action. Here is the list: Vampire hero only, this has traditionally been the weakest lore in the book and… it still kinda is. The initial change to get over here is that both lores have been trimmed down to three spells and old reliable amathystine pinions is just gone with no replacement. Soulpike is probably the strongest spell in the lore and and is cast on a 6 with a healthy 24” range, this is great because when you put it on an enemy unit they will essentially ogor charge themselves – you roll a number of dice equal to their charge roll and each 4+ is a mortal wound. On a 9+, you can affect two enemy units with this.

Savings wise, we’re once again looking at last year where we had anything from 25% – 37% in savings for these boxes versus buying the units individually at retail. That’s Nothing to sniff at!

Battleforce: Ossiarch Bonereapers

This box includes a host of Plague Marines and Deathshroud Bodyguard, accompanied by daemon-touched war machines – three Myphitic Blight-haulers and a Plagueburst Crawler – all able to withstand a huge amount of punishment before crashing into the enemy lines in an inexorable wave of stench and decay. This foetid warband includes squads of bulging Plague Marines and Deathshroud Terminators , as well as three Myphitic Blight-haulers and a Plagueburst Crawler to form a revolting spearhead that’s almost impossible to take down. For those in the United States and Canada, Forge World Memphis** has had its requisitions delayed by solar interference, so the Omnissiah’s Talon box won’t arrive until early next year. The above units are supplied with 1x 80mm round base, 5x 75x45.1mm oval bases, and 60 x 25 mm round bases. These miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel paints.
