As a novice in collectible glassware, I learned a great deal and enjoyed the book, and it will be useful for identification. REVIEW: Written by America's top authority on Depression glass, this book continues to be one of Collector Books' bestselling titles. It has a complete(as known) list of pieces for the patterns reviewed in the book along with a "value" I only wish it had more patterns. In addition, for the first time, all the pieces in the photographs are identified and cross-referenced with their listings.

Collectors trust Gene Florence, the foremost authority on glassware, to produce a beautiful, essential reference guide. The majority of pages are undamaged with some creasing or tearing, and pencil underlining of text, but this is minimal. The Florences' descriptive text offers insight into and evaluations of each pattern's history, popularity, and value on today's exciting collectibles market. This used book (3rd edition, 1995) has detailed descriptions and great color photos of 67 patterns of collectible glassware from a variety of manufacturers.

May also contain light spine creasing or a few markings such as an owner’s name, short gifter’s inscription or light stamp. Gene Florence and his wife, Cathy, know their glass after more than 30 years in the business and their books reflect this knowledge. The introductions mention interesting information about the manufacturer, how easy or hard it may be to find pieces, and some things to look for to avoid reproductions. Covering collectible glassware made after the Depression era, this is the only book available that deals exclusively with the handmade and mass-produced glassware from this period.

A poor condition book can still make a good reading copy but is generally not collectible unless the item is very scarce.

It is completely updated, featuring many new original company catalog pages and seven new patterns that have been requested by collectors -- making a total of 88 patterns from Anniversay to Yorktown, with many of the most popular Fire King patterns in between. This was an older book (1995) but is timeless since it's not exactly reviewing glassware from the 2000's. Once again all the pieces in the photographs are identified and cross-referenced with their listings. It is not encyclopedic but rather shows variety and sampling of the makers and patterns of the era 40's, 50's, 60's.
