Winter wreaths and Christmas wreaths are pretty different. While you can use a winter wreath at Christmas, a Christmas wreath might not work in the winter months after the holiday. The T1-11 I used is about a ¼” thinner than pine boards, so your lantern might look slightly different, but it will still be adorable! You’ll need to buy that tartan ribbon first, as well as wooden slices from here. Then it all comes down to painting them with sparkly glitter paint.

I will show you how to make the Christmas design with score lines using the scoring stylus. You can follow the same steps to make the other design variations. Then, press the wax paper down and make sure it’s positioned correctly before the glue dries. Wait at least fifteen seconds before moving on to the next section so the glue is set and the wax paper stays in place. Place your wax paper on your green StandardGrip or blue LightGrip machine mat and use a brayer to make sure it’s fully adhered. Warm white LED light brings a soft ambiance to your décor and includes a 6 hour on/18 hour off timer for easy useNow you can fold the four tabs at the top of your body piece and bottom of your head piece inward. You don’t need to fold them down completely – just enough to make them perpendicular to the sides, which will create a flat surface to attach each connector piece (two of Piece K). Alternatively, you can make your own pompoms if you’re so inclined; although that’s going to take you much longer to wrap this up. 17. Rustic Snowman Ornament You can paint the lantern a solid color or leave it unfinished, but if you want your snowman to look weathered like mine, follow these steps. Then attach the center tab following the same process, and finally attach the bottom tab. If you have trouble holding the tabs in place, a spatula can help. When you’re finished, your combined piece should look similar to mine, with one vertical seam connected and the other still open. A sweet baby fawn snuggles close while a beautiful red Poinsettia adorns his base. He's sure to make a great addition to your holiday display for years to come!

Winter is perhaps the best season to add rusticity to your decor. Just think of a dark woody aesthetic, a log fire going, and a warm plaid blanket to curl up under. It’s simple rusticity, just like these rustic snowman ornaments.

3. Salt Dough Ornaments

TIP: I found it easiest to select my score layers starting at the bottom of the Layers Panel. Just look for the layers that are grouped with their corresponding cut layer. Don’t worry if you don’t have 3mm plywood or if you don’t want to buy any. You can use nearly any thin plywood-like material instead. For instance, I used old pieces of ⅛” beadboard paneling to create these mitten ornaments, but almost any thin material, like lauan, hardboard, etc., could work. There’s nothing that can beat homemade ornaments. They don’t have to be fancy or elegant, as long as you enjoy making them.

In some of the bigger German lantern parades - like the one taking place beginning of November in Hyde Park in London - you can even see St. Martin leading the crowd of children and parents, riding on a real horse and dressed in traditional clothes from many centuries ago. Finally, attach the nose. Apply glue to the two tabs and then position the nose on the face so the tabs are on the left and right sides and the nose is centered between the cheeks. Press the nose against the face with a bit of pressure to make sure the tabs are well adhered. Hold the nose in place for at least twenty seconds so the glue can fully dry. But what if I told you it was actually just—wait for it— salt dough! That’s right, just plain old salt dough that you can turn into this unbelievably elegant ornament! Use the diagram in the printed plan to position the bottom of the hat on the face and attach using brad nails. Pipe cleaner snowballs are actually easier to make than you’d expect. It all comes down to bending your pipe cleaners just so around these styrofoam balls.I’m sure you have a few bowls and light globes like the ones you see here lying around. Isn’t it time you did something with them, like repurpose or upcycle them? TIP: If you are not sure how to upload an SVG cut file to Cricut Design Space, watch this helpful video training series I made. Look up the best salt dough recipe, and feel free to add a few drops of essential oils from here to the mixture. Finally, hang the ornament up on your tree with this jute twine and enjoy the fruit of your labor. Flip the body piece over so you can see into it from the bottom. Carefully add a dot of glue to each of the arm tabs.
