At one time there were over 300 sugar estates in the country, each with their own still for producing rum.Beautifully rounded palate with a great spread of flavours: grilled tropical fruit with smooth woody spice, dried fruit, with interweaving layers of honey, gingerbread and toasty oak. Over the centuries the number of estates shrank until in 1970 there were just 4 remaining who merged to form Demerara Distillers who created the Eldorado brand in 1992. The El Dorado 15 Year Old is artfully blended using marques from the EHP Wooden Coffey, the Metal Coffey, the Port Mourant Double Wooden Pot Still and the Versailles Single Wooden Pot Still. On the nose this rum has scents of dried tropical fruit with aromas of caramel, butterscotch and molasses. In 1999 the merger of ae remaining estates and distillerys left only Demerara Distillers Ltd and they continue to produce rum today.
