S2CID 84505681.In 1977, paleontologist Teresa Maryańska proposed that the complex sinuses and nasal cavities of ankylosaurs may have lightened the weight of the skull, housed a nasal gland, or acted as a chamber for vocal resonance. [10] [27] Carpenter rejected these hypotheses, arguing that tetrapod animals make sounds through the larynx, not the nostrils, and that reduction in weight was minimal, as the spaces only accounted for a small percent of the skull volume. He also considered a gland unlikely and noted that the sinuses may not have had any specific function. [10] It has also been suggested that the respiratory passages were used to perform a mammal-like treatment of inhaled air, based on the presence and arrangement of specialized bones. [27]

When Hurricane Clarissa hit Isla Sorna, the InGen personnel evacuated the island with the Parasaurolophus that were under their care being freed by them. In the wild, they countered the Lysine contingency by eating Lysine rich plants. [3]

They lived in the Brachiosaurus Enclosure. [4] Visitor Center Mural [ ] The clones resembled the species Parasaurolophus walkeri, however, they are slightly shorter than the original animal, being 10 meters (33 feet) in length instead of 11.45 meters (37 feet). Parasaurolophus makes a brief cameo in the short, drinking at a river while a group of fisherman canoe past it during the end credits.

InGen eventually used Ankylosaurus for Masrani Global Corporation's new dinosaur zoo Jurassic World on Isla Nublar. The Ankylosaurs could be viewed in the Gyrosphere attraction, as shown in Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous.The retracted position of the nostrils of Ankylosaurus were compared to those of fossorial (digging) worm lizards and blind snakes by Arbour and Mallon in 2017, and though it was probably not a burrowing animal, the snout of Ankylosaurus may indicate earth-moving behavior. These factors, as well as the low rate of tooth formation in ankylosaurs compared to other ornithischians, indicate that Ankylosaurus may have been omnivorous (eating both plant and animal matter). It may also (or alternatively) have dug in the ground for roots and tubers. [12] A 2023 study by paleontologist Antonio Ballell and colleagues found that North American ankylosaurids from the latest Cretaceous (including Ankylosaurus) had jaws with low mechanical advantage, whereas those of earlier relatives were high to moderate. These late ankylosaurids also had tooth occlusion and complex biphasal jaw mechanisms, features shared with some Late Cretaceous nodosaurids, but those instead have jaws with high mechanical advantage. This indicates that while the two groups converged in some features, the nodosaurs had higher relative bite force, which suggests diverging jaw mechanics and dietary partitioning between the two. S2CID 55372674. They're based in convenient locations including supermarkets, newsagents and train stations. Plus they're often open late and on Sundays. According to sound designer Al Nelson in Jurassic World, the vocals for the Ankylosaurs were recorded from sea lions. During the events of 2022, several of these hadrosaurs were captured and transferred to the Biosyn Sanctuary, where they can be studied. A herd of original and accurate Parasaurolophus were running threw the snowy field in Sierra Nevada, chased by Owen and his DFW guys riding on the horse, leading them to the sanctuary. One of them escape the herd, leading to Owen being on a course and eventually capture it, allowing Owen to touch its face and tell him that everything will be okay and that he will be fine. As Owen, Shep and Rosa herded the Parasaur, they are confronted by Rainn Delacourt, disguised as a DFW officer and showing a fake badge, and accused of illegal poaching. Owen eventually gave in after a gun confrontation and handed the dinosaur to Delacourt. [14]
