While I’m not the biggest fan of such a move, it’s an understandable one. When it comes to speed, one of the ways to make a boot feel “faster” or more lightweight, is to have the boot fit your foot more tightly, so it feels more one-to-one. The leather around the toe-box of the foot does not stretch, though. That's a good thing: it means you don't have to up-size to get bigger. Over time, however, this leather is probably going to soften, so look out for that. FFT worried about these ones when we got them out the box. Notoriously, the lighter the cleat, the more difficult it's going to be to get on. Oh, and props to the designers for Puma cat logos: they nailed the effect on the front of the toe and with the gold version on the heel. They, in particular, look excellent – as does the "LAZERTOUCH" leading up between the leather and the main body of the cleat.

For years, the speed boot market had reached a sort of détente, with the brands distancing themselves from defining their speed boots by weight, and instead focusing on being ‘light enough’ whilst not compromising on comfort. But all that changed in 2020, with Puma igniting a new arms race for the lightest speed boot title.Has sleek shape with low toe box; less foam than Future Z 1.4 but still very comfortable and welcoming

The Future Pro are less premium than Neymar’s boots, but the two still have that quality feel nonetheless and made even more attractive by its significantly cheaper valuation. It retains the Fuzionfit compression band, Dynamic Motion System tooling, and PWRTAPE on the sides. Match Not with the Future Z, though. These ones slipped on like a pair of slippers and felt fantastic – though over time when you're running, you can feel a slight pull across the top of your foot from the wear, due to the material.Advanced Creator Zones include a textured 3D grip zone on lateral sides for enhanced ball cutting and driving The women’s variant of the Ultra 1.3 follows closely to these principles, swapping the super aggressive bladed tooling for a conical one, similar to the one found on the recently released Puma King Platinum 2021. It’s an interesting experiment and one that we’d love to see other brands follow, as the women’s game grows. Editor’s note: For those wondering about why it’s a women’s fit and a unisex fit. Part of the reason is that because most girls have grown up wearing men’s variant of football boots. We tested a pair of the Puma Future Z Lazertouch football boots in a UK size 10 (US 11/EUR 45/BR 43/CM 29 - Women's: UK 10/US 12/EUR 45/BR 43/CM 29). Comfort and fit We were huge fans of the Puma Ultra 1.1 and 1.2, because interestingly, Puma gave it a more voluminous fit, which made it friendly for wider footed players.

Trapping a ball feels close to feet but I felt that the knit provided just a bit of cushion for me to feet like I had the feathered touch of Olivier Giroud. I also felt confident with my passing and crosses as I could wrap my foot around the ball easily with that adaptive upper. It's a minor gripe, though. These cleats feel old-school and if they were too polished and futuristic, they wouldn't have the same charm. Summary Previous Future compression band feels too concentrated on the midfoot; compression in new Future Z 1.3 feels evenly spread out Puma always had a reputation for pushing the boundaries of speed, culminating in their SL boots which infamously only lasted 10 games. The Puma Ultra 1.3, though is a much more balanced affair. It’s very light but does not compromise on touch and thinness nor sacrifice too much on the durability front.

The formula of the Puma Future Z 1.3 has remained the same as its predecessor – a boot that fits most foot shapes through an adaptable midfoot. The adaptability comes from the compression material covering the midfoot and Puma has invested more on that front. The compression band, officially named FUZIONFIT+, covers the entire midfoot up to the lace area and the mouth of the boot. About two thirds of the boot is covered in FUZIONFIT+. It should come as no surprise that the tighter fit means that there is some break-in time required when you first put on the Puma Ultra 1.3. Dynamic Motion System soleplate has a nice, stiff, and stable midfoot and a set of studs good for rotational movements; does feel working with the foot rather than against it; Would prefer Puma consider the soleplate purefly FG and recommends getting the MG for artificial ground We tested a pair of the Puma Future Z Lazertouch soccer cleats in a UK size 10 (US 11/EUR 45/BR 43/CM 29 - Women's: UK 10/US 12/EUR 45/BR 43/CM 29). Comfort and fit Designed for tomorrow’s superstars, these are the children’s versions of the Future, so players can wear boots that look like their favourite stars on pitch, but at a price point to keep parents happy.Having said that, it would have been nice to have received a wide version of the Puma Ultra 1.3 to cater to a broaded customer base (pun unintended). Raw performance Dynamic Motion System outsole provides exceptional freedom of movement and support for explosive changes in direction The latest iteration involved a compression band to adapt to your foot shape, evolving from the first concept of infinite lacing options. This greatly improved the boot with an improved fit but I found the touch on the ball to feel pretty… meh. Fit is really comfortable out of the box because of the super ridiculously soft mesh toe box; has a nice padded sensation because of the internal foam
