It’s just bad all around and there’s nothing redeeming about it, and I don’t think anyone should read this. The Siren is wild, escapist fun. It’s sunny. Sandy. Surfy. It has heart. And it will take you away, far better than Calgon ever could. Illustrating the siren as a pure mermaid became commonplace in the "second family" bestiaries, and she was shown holding a musical instrument in the classical tradition, but also sometimes holding apparently an eel-fish. [80] An example of the siren-mermaid holding such a fish is found in one of the earlier codices in this group, dated the late 12th century. [f] [69] (As bird-like) For as light and bubbly as that cover is, this is a bit of a dark story. It's Hollywood, baby. The life of the stars and lights and flashes from cameras. A gaggle of people are off to a tropical island to film a new hit.

I wasn’t quite there for the romance, which is a bit unfortunate since this is a romance book. Fight me, but insta-love is just so useless and annoying.Carlson, Patricia Ann (ed.) (1986). Literature and Lore of the Sea. Amsterdam: Editions Rodopi, 270. The audiobook has multiple narrators with excellent voicing skills that bring this beach read to life. The story feels a bit drawn-out with a slower than expected start but overall it's very entertaining and well worth the listen. It surprises me that a debut novel is this DAMN GOOD!!!! Put it this way, this is one of those books that you want to sit down and read in one sitting, so give yourself that time allowance! Descriptions of our characters surroundings on the other hand were just non - existent. The story starts out in a pub for example, but do I know how it looked like?? Nope. Same with Characters, I guess one dude's cheekbones looked like glass, whatever that's supposed to mean. Not sharp like glass, not cut like glass, just glass. Guess our poor man was just see-through. And everyone's eyes were a different crystal colour, but that's as far as we get.

Linda Phyllis Austern, Inna Naroditskaya, Music of the Sirens, Indiana University Press, 2006, p.18 The term " siren song" refers to an appeal that is hard to resist but that, if heeded, will lead to a bad conclusion. Later writers have implied that the sirens were cannibals, based on Circe's description of them "lolling there in their meadow, round them heaps of corpses rotting away, rags of skin shriveling on their bones." [54] As linguist Jane Ellen Harrison (1850–1928) notes of " The Ker as siren": "It is strange and beautiful that Homer should make the sirens appeal to the spirit, not to the flesh." [55] The siren song is a promise to Odysseus of mantic truths; with a false promise that he will live to tell them, they sing,Add Stella Rivers to the mix. She’s Cole’s ex-wife, and once had a dazzling film career herself. After some very public mishaps and a problem with alcohol, she NEEDS this film to work so she can regain ground. As filming begins and a hurricane brews and moves towards the island, deep-seated secrets and deceptions are revealed, and scandals come to light that may cause more damage than the impending storm.
