Even better though making a few classic pumpkins gave me the chance to get a classic pumpkin decorating template up here for you guys! You can use the plastic scoop that came with your pumpkin carving kit, a large metal spoon, or even an ice cream scoop to do this. If you cut the bottom part out of your pumpkin, place your tea light down on the sidewalk, light it, then place the pumpkin over it. Use short, up-and-down sawing motions to do this, making sure to cut all the way through the pumpkin. Stars are one of the most popular shapes, but you can also use other fall-inspired shapes as well, including pumpkins, bats, and leaves.

I do kinda wonder what would happen if I just skipped pumpkins one-year altogether…shudders…no wait I take that back!

If you can't get the shape out, tap it gently with a regular hammer (not a rubber mallet, if you were using one earlier) until it pops out. If you see this, carefully pull them away with your fingers, or scrape them away using a metal spoon.

Use these templates with a projector to simply project the pumpkin lines onto the cookies or cut a print to use with an edible marker as a guide.
