Wonderful compilation of essays exploring the travels of 16th century artist Albrecht Dürer and the impact they had on his life. Dürer kept a number of travel journals over the years and they provide incredible insights into how he thought about art, his contemporaries, other cultures, and the many changes that were rapidly occurring in his own homeland. This hardcover also contains many illustrations, both by Dürer and other European artists of the period.”

The David Day description basically have all the problems I mentioned in the first paragraph of the review. Lots of what David thinks presented as Tolkien, BAD BAD BAD Las explicaciones me resultaron muy interesantes, puesto que ahondan un poco en la inspiración del autor y de las bases lingüísticas (como chica de letras estas cosas me encantan).

The Faithful Executioner: Life and Death, Honor and Shame in the Turbulent Sixteenth Century” by Joel F. Harrington

Now, you can have a moment captured in illustration for all to see. Most importantly, using map illustration, an artist depicts your business story’s beauty and grace, a campus, a town, or a special event. A moment in your business history is preserved forever through art. To sum up, the beauty of your school or business is captured for all time through a campus map illustration. Architecture is beautiful in Illustrated Maps. Descriptions by artist are great, they might talk about the illustrations they made, about their Tolkien experience, about their techniques. In general they are informative and intereting. After finishing high school in Victoria, British Columbia, Day worked as a logger for five years on Vancouver Island before graduating from the University of Victoria. Subsequently he has travelled widely, most frequently to Greece and Britain. The Second Age has long been a “dark age” for readers of J. R. R. Tolkien, as none of his fiction provides an all-encompassing narrative of the events of that 3,500-year period of Middle-earth’s history. Only through the efforts of Tolkien’s son Christopher has the public been able to appreciate the full grandeur of the Second Age, which is revealed in Tolkien’s meticulous notes and unfinished works. The Second Age is made up of two great narrative on the one hand the rise and cataclysmic downfall of the island kingdom of Númenor and its aftermath, and on the other the forging of the Rings of Power and the rise of the new dark lord, Sauron. Illustrated World of The Second Age includes more than 120 illustrations depicting the characters and events of this period—along with insightful commentary from renowned Tolkien scholar David Day—making it an essential addition to the library of every Lord of the Rings fan. Tolkien’s sources for his Second Age are, of course, as rich and varied as ever and this book delves into some of these influences and shows how the power of Tolkien’s imagination is manifest even in the lesser-known parts of his legendarium.

Experience 16th century Europe as the master artists of the time saw them. Art inspired by great illuminated manuscripts and the earliest printed books becomes a living, breathing world in Pentiment. This book has present in part the same issue, but thankfully works different. Basically this book has entries for characters, places, battles, etc, but the generally include 3 pieces of information. 1) the Character description by David Day, 2) the illustration by several artists 3)a comment or description by the artist. In an interview with LLB, Charles Taylor, CEO said, “In today’s world, we are overwhelmed by on-line media and apps but yet we’re addicted. Frustratingly, we often cannot find high quality content that satisfies our interests or needs nor do we have the integrated tools which could help make our online experience better.

Although pre-dating the more famous peasant revolt in early 16 th century Swabia, the small 1476 uprising of peasants in Niklashausen is no less interesting.A farmer named Hans Böhm said he had received visions of the Virgin Mary. Among other things, Hans said that Mary told him the people needed to overthrow their corrupt clergy. The festival atmosphere of Carnival emboldened the peasants, who gave up their work to travel to Niklashausen and listen to the visionary. You may have already guessed that it did not end well for them, but it’s an interesting look at a community turned upside down by a single charismatic peasant.” Now, for the first time, discover the untold future history of Traction. This lavishly illustrated book contains incredible tales of fearsome Zagwan warriors riding war-zebras into battle, daring air-traders flying the Bird-Roads in search of adventure, and the mysterious plague-ridden wasteland of the Dead Continent that was formerly known as 'North America'.
