The 3700H is lighter than its higher end siblings which I personally appreciated as I lugged it around.

I planned to do something like this for a music setup, but no receiver I've come across (in my price range) has a high enough performance DAC. Even really expensive receivers like the Denon 8500 barely make the cut. The i/p scaler function controls the rest of the available functions. So, if you turn it off, you have the next closest mode to HDMI bypass, as all other processing (including resolution scaling, and progressive/interlaced processing) will be disabled. This is the mode I ended up choosing for the Denon AVR-X3700H.

When passively bi-amping (with a receiver or otherwise) the higher the level, the more distortion is lowered (compared to non bi-amped) Multiple room setups were fairly painless to manage, though cable management might be a bit of a pain if you don’t have some form of routing for hiding away the plethora of connections you’ll be stringing from room to room.Phono input: With the included phono input, the AVC-X3700H lets you connect your turntable and play vinyl records. Enjoy your collection with exceptional quality and sound. Most of our testing is done with the amp’s Pure Direct mode, which gives us the cleanest, clearest and most precise performance. The quality of its presentation here though means you can engage some of the height virtualisation software and not lose too much in the way of focus. Use all nine channels in a 5.1.4 or 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos® or DTS:X™ system, or go with a more modest surround sound setup and repurpose the extra channels for music in another zone.

Again, I really appreciate how clearly the AVR-X3700H communicates what mode it’s in, including what audio codec, and which video resolution or format is being displayed. Popping noise volume and frequency has been reduced with this new receiver. Apple TV popping noise is an issue with Apple TV 4K probably as said by everettT. I mean I sometimes hear low volume pop from one of my speaker( this changes randomly) Like its amp siblings that have an “H” at the end of the name, this Denon amp has music streaming with HEOS. This is Denon’s own streaming platform (which Marantz also uses), and it supports most popular music services. It is all easily controlled with the HEOS app on the mobile. The interface is very user-friendly, and reminiscent of Sonos. Be aware that Apple Music and YouTube Music are not directly supported, but since the receiver has both Airplay 2 and Bluetooth, it is still advisable.

For video support, the Denon AVR-X3700H has 7 HDMI inputs and 3 HDMI outputs (one of which is tied to zone 2) and supports all the latest signal formats, including eARC, HDCP 2.3, resolution up to 4K/120* and 8k/60*, 3D, and BT.2020 pass-through, and HDR support through HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision. It’s also compatible with Google Chromecast and AirPlay 2. The only downside is that it doesn’t have built-in WiFi or Bluetooth support. The Denon AVR-X3700H is also a 7.2 channels AV receiver with 100 watts per channel. So it seems this unit may have been released not fully debugged. I was certainly concerned about this issue, and hope it does not surface again. When it comes to audio quality, Denon receivers are hard to beat. They have a reputation for delivering clean, clear, and powerful sound. Whether you’re watching movies or listening to music, Denon receivers will provide an immersive and enjoyable experience. The wealth of rear connections might seem daunting, but you’ll primarily be using HDMI, which makes things simpler because the receiver will automatically identify connected sources. Denon also clearly colour-codes all the inputs and speaker terminals, making set-up relatively painless.

If you are perfectly content with the sound system on your television and have zero desire to take your media intake to the next level, this is complete overkill. It has a feature set very much tailored to enthusiasts of film, television, games, and music.
