Catholic Icing’s Annual Saint Costume Shares

Mother Teresa, born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in 1910, was a Catholic nun and missionary who dedicated her life to serving the poorest of the poor. After moving to India in 1929, she felt a strong calling to help those in need. In 1950, Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity, an organization focused on providing care and assistance to the most vulnerable members of society.

The shirts I used are mostly adult extra large t-shirt from a craft store, and that’s also where most of the props came from. You can also use shirts from the thrift store or old shirts from around the house. Just turn anything with graphics inside out. The costumes you’ll see here, buying new t-shirts and some props, and using some things we had around the house, cost an average of fifteen dollars each. Assembly: put on brown tunic, add cowl. Leaving the knotted end long, wrap the rope twice around the waist and tie. Add accessories. 19. Saint Francis of Assisi Cuts: on the red shirt, make a trapezoid-shaped cut from the front (leaving the collar band intact) to make her cape I sewed the strips (4" and 1.5") into tubes and pressed them so that the edges would be nicely finished and the extra fabric would add weight and better drape to the lightweight muslin. The finished stripes were 2", 3/4" and 3/4" wide. If you want a more authentic look, reduce the size of the smaller stripes.Dance Dress: Classical Dance Dress / Bharatnatyam Dress / Kathak Dress / Mohiniyattam Dress / Odissi Dance Dress / Kathakali Dance Dress / Manipuri Dance Costume / Qawwali Dress / Saraswati Vandana Dress / Folk Dance Dress There are people in this world that we sometimes call saint, those who go above and beyond to help others and make the world a better place. It seems like they only do good and never are cross or annoyed at others. They are definitely role models… even though we admit we don’t think we’ll ever be good enough to live up to them! Costumes: Animal & Wildlife / Animal Costume / Bird Costumes / Insects / Water Animals / Flowers / Fruit Costumes / Vegetables It simply isn't clear what the secular holiday is intended to celebrate... and for all the money invested (costuming, candy, dental bills), we don't feel compelled to participate.
