Admitted, you can use a small stepladder as a seating device. It doesn’t make a great chair but it will seat you. The other way round, you can use a chair to reach high placed objects or to paint that wall but it’s maybe not the safest way to do so. Usit combines best of two worlds. It is a stylish, comfortable chair as well as a safe to use stepladder. She wanted to buy a step ladder chair for her kitchen but was having trouble finding one and the ones she did find were really pricey. What do you do when you can’t find what you want at the price you want? That’s right, you design and build your own DIY furniture! Library Chair combines best of two worlds. It is a stylish, comfortable chair as well as a safe to use stepladder. See also the SHGAO Wooden Library Chair.

I used the template from the magazine and adjusted it to make it more beginner friendly. You can easily draw the pattern on graph paper as I did. All measurements are in inches. If you really want the cutouts in the side panels you can always draw the pattern and cut off the section with a jigsaw. As this was my fist time making this I didn't want to try it as I felt it will compromise the strength ( I am of course over cautious! ) Drill countersink holes in the sides of the step and seat cleats. These holes will be used to attach the cleats to the legs. Be sure to make a left and a right. Then drill countersink holes in the bottom of the step and seat cleats. These holes will be used to attach the cleats to the step and seat. The Usit Stepladder Chair features spacious steps with non-slip grooves and is available in different wooden textures. This beautiful hybrid piece of multipurpose furniture is designed by Maarten Olden.

As you will notice from the link above. My chair is different in design. I adjusted the original, so that it would be more beginner friendly and less of a hassle. I’ve often used a stepladder as a chair in a pinch, but this ladder chair looks so much more comfortable! Arredamenti Ladder Chair is an Italian-made convertible step stool that also functions as a dining room chair or extra seat for guests. Popular Mechanics have an excellent tutorial for those who are brave enough to try out curves. I, however am not so experienced and I wasn't sure if I could get all those connections nice and tight. Apply glue to the cleats, clamp in position and attach using 1-1/4″ wood screws. The top cleat is flush with the top rail and the bottom cleat is flush with the bottom rail. Step 13. Cut and Attach the Front Step Support

For the best fit of the cleats, it’s best to place the wood in position, mark the angles and cut. The top cleat is flush with the top rail, the middle cleat is flush with the top of the middle rail and the bottom rail is flush with the bottom of the bottom rail.

This folding wooden stair chair is stable, durable and a handy companion for small jobs such as hanging pictures or reaching high shelves. If you like you can simply buy some hooks and fix it. but I felt this was much more sturdy and strong. I used some slats for this. Cut a piece of wood to length and rip to width. Position on the legs, clamp in position and attach using 2″ wood screws. Step 25. Make and Attach the Seat Would you use the words “safe” and “secure” to describe this step stool? We certainly wood. Delxo’s 2-Step Ladder provides just enough height to reach top cabinets and light bulbs that need changing. The extra-wide steps are textured to keep your feet steady as you climb. Fortunately for me, my mom-in-law asked if I could make a step ladder for her. I told her that I don't think I could make a strong step ladder as I did not know how. This chair which I saw on instructables kept flashing in my mind and as I had the balance plywood left from another of her projects ( which is still incomplete!) , I thought I'll use it, and if it comes right, I'll surprise her with it!

Ladder Chair Building Instructions

Kitchen– This little multitasker is great when you need a little extra boost in the kitchen. And at 5′ 4″ those upper cabinets are always out of reach for me! It is often very annoying when you can not reach anywhere and it can also be dangerous if you stand on a small stool or table. Therefore, Scala is a very useful piece of furniture, available in many types of wood. Dining Room– This DIY ladder chair could serve as an extra seat in a dining room and then an extra lift when you need to grab the holiday dinnerware out of the hutch. Just like Mr. Franklin, I enjoy multipurpose furniture projects. My DIY kitty litter cabinet that hides an ugly litter box is one of those projects. It looks like an ordinary cabinet on the outside but opens to reveal a litter box an extra litter storage. Kitties enter through a “potty entrance” flanked by curtains – too cute!

Cosco’s Retro Counter Chair comes with a step stool so you don’t have to jump onto the seat; you can also use it as a regular household step stool if needed. It comes in three classic colors to heighten the vintage feel. Once the cleats are cut, drill countersink holes in the bottom edge of the top rail to attach the seat. Drill countersink holes in the top edge of the middle and bottom rails to attach the steps. Then drill countersink holes in the faces to attach the cleats to the legs. Be sure to make a right and left. Apply glue to the cleats, clamp in position and attach using 1-1/4″ wood screws. Step 23. Make and Attach the Middle Step
