Here at Electric Teeth, to get a good idea of the value, we work out an approximate cost to own the brush over a 3 year period. It’s a great electric toothbrush for beginners because it allows you to sample the benefits of a powered toothbrush without making a serious dent in your bank balance.

The teen is more aligned with the Smart 4 4000 that sits above the 2500 in the range. It has features some desire, but may not use. Built-in Bluetooth® wireless technology connects to our app - making brushing fun while educating kids how to brush properly on their own.

This gives us a bit of a benchmark as to the value of the Oral-B Teen in comparison to other toothbrushes available today. When you brush, sensors within the brush detect if you are being a little firm and applying too much force to your teeth. When it detects this, it activates the pressure sensor. In years gone by, the battery life in an Oral-B electric toothbrush was acceptable but really fell a little short of the competition.

With a long history of electric toothbrush production Oral-B know how to build a brush that should remain reliable for a good few years. Head shape and size: Head shape and size are important in accessing hard-to-reach areas, such as between the cheeks and molars. This is extremely important for kids, whose mouths are small and still developing. Teen’s and adults alike can gain a lot from this electric toothbrush. If you make full use of what it offers you will have healthier teeth and gums. A great option for the teens in your family, this snazzy electric toothbrush for kids aged 13 plus certainly looks the part.It usually takes up to 15 hours to recharge the brush fully. It is a relatively slow charge that is pushed to the brush via the charging stand, so it is perfectly safe to leave the brush on here at all times when not in use. Hold off on introducing toothpaste: Kids won’t need toothpaste until they are at least 5 years old—before then, toothpaste can complicate everything. Kids may not like the taste of toothpaste; it may turn them off from the overall brushing experience; and the truth is that kids are more likely to brush for a longer time if they are doing so with a “dry” brush. I have found that toothpaste shortens the duration of brushing—and instead of trying to get kids to brush for 10-15 seconds with toothpaste, it’s much better to have them brush for 1-2 minutes without. You should spend 30 seconds cleaning each section. The pacer helps you keep an even brushing time on these 4 sections. This Teen brush is just like the Oral-B Smart 4 4000, so there is a lot to like here, both technically and aesthetically.

One last, IMPORTANT note: When it’s the parent brushing the child’s teeth (usually the case from “first tooth” to age 8), don’t use your toothbrush or one that you think would work. Think about what your kid would want. It’s a subtle point, but it may break or make the habit of brushing for your child. Oral-B have pulled it out of the (wash) bag again – this time for kids aged six to 12. This Junior toothbrush offers all the benefits of the brushes for teens and adults, but the bristles are softer to protect developing teeth and gums. Jon is a leading voice on electric toothbrushes and has been quoted by mainstream media publications for his opinions and expertise. At 30 second intervals, the brush will provide an audible warning via a slight pause in the brush motor at to tell you to change quadrant. Once the 2 minutes are up 3 brief pauses in the brush motor will be heard and felt. Philips Sonicare for Kids Sonic Electric Toothbrush A bigger, more powerful, rechargeable brush with an interactive app

Oral-B have always done, in my mind, a pretty decent job when it comes to the look and feel of the brushes. They do not have quite the premium look and feel of some Sonicare models, but then again they are a bit more cost effective. When using the Bluetooth connectivity, the app will show the cleaning mode. I will explain the connectivity option in more detail shortly.

Finding the Best Electric Toothbrush for your Kids - Oral B

And now for something a bit different. Swedish company, FOREO, has produced a groundbreaking smart sonic electric toothbrush with a silicone/polymer hybrid brush head. A groundbreaking study found that electric toothbrushes remove more plaque than manual toothbrushes. They should also make your life a bit easier on manic mornings – and prevent any issues arising from your child’s half-hearted brushing efforts. Lightweight and easy to hold with a range of different-sized toothbrush heads, it’s also ideal for children, and you can choose the strong or gentle mode if you have sensitive teeth and gums. For those who really want a Bluetooth enabled brush, this is a bit of a steal really considering what you get. In the unlikely event something go wrong, there is as standard a 24 month warranty is provided with the Oral-B Teen.. This covers the battery too. Register the brush online and you get an extra 12 months at no extra cost, so 36 months or 3 years in total.

You can’t complain about the cheap-as-chips price tag of this budget toothbrush. Reviewers rate Colgate’s 360 Whole Mouth Clean, which features a cheek and tongue cleaner and dual-action head. In the box with the Smart Teen you get 2 styles of brush head. These are the Sensi UltraThin and the Ortho head. Both Dr. Little and Dr. Marquie say that children can start at 3 years old, with adult supervision and after consulting with a trusted dentist. "Kids can brush their gums too hard that can cause sore spots or gum recession," explains Dr. Little, "so it's helpful to have an adult around to prevent that." But to this point, Dr. Marquie adds that fortunately, a lot of electric toothbrushes include a pressure sensor that alerts the user if they're brushing too aggressively. It is a little harsher/aggressive feeling than a Sonicare or Colgate brush. Whilst this is not exactly the best way of rating a clean of the teeth, it really feels like it has done something. They are all interchangeable, which means you can select your preferred head and use it with any of the cleaning modes.
