Description

Sure, our main hero gets to witness his whole family murdered and now has to take care of his sister who is now a demon, while learning to become a warrior, a demon slayer, and trying his best to survive. He is saved by a passing demon-slayer, who directs him to a grumpy old master on a mountain who will train him to also slay demons. There is no sense of continuity or passing of time (literally months could pass between two panels without any sense of character or story progression), the book is just a scattered set of random events that occur out of nowhere and just because. Tanjiro Kamada is a kind-hearted and extremely intelligent boy living in the mountains with his family.

And so many of the characters are endearing (tanjiro and nezuko are precious af, still crying over rengoku, akaza turned out lowkey precious in the end too, fuck douma). No matter how many times I revisit it, it always makes me happy (which is kind of ironic since so many of my fav characters die). The fate of Nezuko is enough to hook you into the story to find out whether Tanjiro is able to save his sister in some way. The plot to demon slayer is impeccable and while the characters have not had the time to develop, I still really enjoyed what Gotouge has created.

We’re shown flashbacks of their prior sibling interactions, and it helps to develop that bond between them. Tanjiro strives to become a Hashira, more commonly referred to as the Demon Slayer Corps, to begin his perilous quest to avenge his family and help turn his sister back into a human again. This stunning paperback collection features the complete manga box set of the popular Japanese anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. We find out the many rules of demon slaying during action sequences, so the world-building of the story is never overwhelming. Nezuko, the girl who was turned into a demon when her most of her family were killed, is as cute as a button, even with those fangs. That might not seem like much considering this is Goodreads and all we do here is read and talk/think about reading.
