Description

Longworth has written for The Washington Post, The Times (London), The Independent, and Bon Appétit magazine.

M L Longworth sounds great fun – here’s some background on her if you want to know more: http://mllongworth. Lots of background that really does not help solve the case at all, but makes for nice reading and makes the people more human. The main characters are engaging and likeable and I particularly enjoyed the interactions between two of the graduate students, Yann Falquero and Thierry Marchive.

The number of suspects and the crime(s), got a bit complicated towards the end, but generally the story went along at a good pace and the main characters continued to be more fleshed out in this their second appearance. Longworth’s entertaining second mystery set in Aix-en-Provence (after 2011’s Death at the Château Bremont) plunges magistrate Antoine Verlaque and his law professor girlfriend, Marine Bonnet, into the world of academe following a murder. Less (but still a lot) of talking about wine, dining and cigars, bigger focus on the mystery and way less relationship drama. Nicely written, easily read, and the murder of the professor is solved after lots of food is eaten, lots of wine drunk, several cigars smoked, and we learn a lot more about Verlaque's back story. Priests and nuns with academic credentials, while just as qualified, are significantly cheaper to employ than their lay counterparts , and are more able to provide support and advice for students planning to emulate them.

Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. Considering the plot involves an examination of the department's funding (the separation of church and state in France means that no public funds can be provided for the study of religious subjects and so public universities do not have theology departments, a paradox which is brushed aside in a single paragraph which makes only limited sense) , the only way colleges can afford to maintain such courses is with the help of the Catholic Church. Will Judge Antoine Verlaque, his on again/off again lady friend law professor Marine Bonnet and Commissioner Bruno Paulik of the Aix police unravel these mysteries? Persoonlijk zal ik een vervolg niet oppakken, echter denk ik wel dat er genoeg mensen zijn die hiervan zullen smullen, vooral als je een beetje bekend bent met de Franse taal. Longworth has a good eye and a sharp wit, and this introduction to Verlaque and Bonnet holds promise for a terrific series. Judge Antoine Verlaque and Commissioner Bruno Paulik look into the matter--aided by Verlaque's girlfriend, law professor Marine Bonnet--and find that more than fellowships have been up for grabs in the university theology department.
