It surpassed (some of) my expectations: the quality of writing itself turned out to be what I had expected, and it was a bit Diary of a Wimpy Kid at times (which I don't rate).

Despite their lack of talent and confidence they are a great bunch and each of them is determined to blow their friends away at the Battle of the Bands competition at school.

Not the kind of book I'd want to plan lessons around but, still, I could see the children enjoying it.

My only quibble is that you can only listen to the whole songs if you subscribe to a music streaming service. And it's not through lack of trying; they practise all the time in George's garage- but Bash is too obsessed with space, Neila has crippling stage fright and they make up for their downfalls with enthusiam!
